Film Scanners & Developing

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

This may seem like a rather silly question, but I have not been able to find an answer anywhere. Here goes:

I am interested in the idea of being able to digitally scan my photographs that I take with my existing camera equipment. Using a film scanner like the Olympus ES10 camera do I still have to take the roll of film into my local photo shop for developing or do I scan the pictures from the film without having to have the roll processed first?

My suspicion is that the film must be developed first, but I was just curious what the exact process was to get a roll of film scanned on to my computer.

Thanks in advance,

The film must be developed first. Film scanners can scan slides or negatives. Slides are usually mounted and negatives in strips of 5 or 6 pictures.

Hope this helps.
