Digital Image mgt sw?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

Recently purchased Nikon 990, and am wondering what the "defacto" standard is in digital image mangement software. It came with Epson Film Factory (eval), but I'm wondering if there's something else more widely used.

Anyone know where I could find reviews of digital image management software for the small-time photographer?

Thanks, -D

This is an imaging-resource answer to another question: http://www.greenspun.com/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg.tcl?msg_id=000AuL There, Dave Etchells (web@imaging-resource.com), on September 30, 1998, recommends ImageAXS Pro or Portfolio. These are, howerver, heavy and expensive.

Both www.download.com, www.5star-shareware.com, www.tucows.com (and probably loads of other shareware sites) offer some sort of rating. Find the right category (media organizers, image viewers...) and you should be able to find a decent shareware or freeware image organizer in one of those sites (try download.com first). Also, the number of downloads gives a clue what is popular at the time.

If you have a Mac, imaging-resource seems impressed with qpict (www.glunet.se/qpict)
