IHC C of G Mogul and American Locos

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Central of Georgia Railway Historical Soc : One Thread

Has anyone any experience with either of these HO models? I've seen them advertised in IHC ads in both Model Railroader and Model Railroad Craftsman, and I believe they are in the Walthers catalog as well. (They are both in the $60 to $70 range.)

For that matter, did the C of G actually run these locos, or are these for fancilful purposes only?

Thanks in advance!

Ed, I believe there is a photo of #630 in the Richard Prince book 'Central of Georgia Railway & Connecting Lines'. Memory says the photo shows the loco in service on the Tybee Island route near Savannah. The date of the photo I do not recall. I purchased an IHC model 4-5 years ago. Was able to install a Kadee coulper to the tender only. It runs very well and smooth. It has only moderate weight due to it's size. It won't pull a hundred car bananna train but, will pull about 5-10 cars (depending upon weight of cars) on level track which really looks good going around the pike.
