How to purchase videos?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Junkyard Wars : One Thread

Can you purchase copies of any episodes on video? I'd love to see all the ones I missed, and just start a collection.... Does anyone know if TLC plans to rerun any episodes they've shown?

Thanks for the help -Rob

There is a Scrapheap Challenge video out on the 18th Sept (available from Amazon UK). It is not of much use to most Junkyard fans as it is only available in PAL format (i.e. it won't work on standard American video players) and also as it is only available (as far as I can tell) from the amazon.co.uk site. Still, I thought it might be of some interest to someone.

TLC does have video's for sale. They aren't in the online catalog, but if you call, they can sell them to you. When I ordered them back in January (when the shows first ran) it took a while for delivery. That may have improved.

I have just had word with the boss here. We might be able to sell them - he says we will be able to say in the next week or two. So, if you don't have any luck getting them off TLC, give us a shout in a couple of weeks time.

What Andy fails to mention, is that it is the Outtakes reel. If I can't talk them into sending me one (as a participant), conversion is available anyplace with a noticiable immigrant communtity.

PAL-NTSC conversion is also available from a number of places that accessible via the web. (if there is no local source that you can find)

Do a search for VHS VIDEO CONVERSION and you will find a number of on- line places to send tapes to. I have seen prices range from $9 to $25. these generally include the tape and return shipping.

shop around.

here are some examples (I have not used any of them though):

www.vhsconversions.com www.videoconversions.com etc, etc.

A local conversion will cost around $10, last time I checked with Gandhi Appliances at Western & Devon in Chicago!
