They were also nominated for Outstanding Directing (All in the Family and Such Sweet Sorrow), Outstanding Casting, Single Camera Picture Editing, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing and Alan Alda was nominated for Guest Appearance. (I think it's odd that they were nominated for Drama and Casting, but none of the other actors in addition to Alan and Julianna were nominated!) I also think Noah deserved a nomination, but what can you do? The Emmys are probably mostly politics like everything else.

Well, at least if they win for outstanding drama, they can all go up on stage together!

If ER did win for Best Drama, then for me, it would make up for all the snub that the Emmys did to us this year. But I wouldn't bet on this because I would think that they would have a tougher competition especially with the success of The West Wing.

I forgot to say that I didn't know there were SO many Emmy categories that we never see on the TV awards show. They even have one for Outstanding Commercial!

I'm really really glad that ER got a lot of nominations for those technical categories. Having taken a course in filming/filming techniques, it's a side of the show that's really taken for granted. I've noticed some excellent camera and editing work done on ER, and I'm glad it's getting noticed. About getting nominated for a best drama, although some people may argue that it got nominated just because it gets nominated every year, it really is a testament to the acting strengths of every actor on the set, so at least the academy recognizes that.

It would be wonderful if ER won for Best Drama, but unfortunately, I think that's wishful thinking. I'm really hoping ER wins for Outstanding Directing. I mean "All in the Family" was just PERFECT and "Such Sweet Sorrow" was my favorite eppy of Season 6.
