with Maric out the way, who's the number one must get rid of now then? (and you can't say Des H 'cos I'm beginning to feel sorry for the lad, real icon of naff buys he is though). Who's next for the contract chop?

Marcelino has apparently been told to get on his bike "no future" etc etc. So he's mine, never really done owt to really p*ss me off, but that's just it eh? #15,000 odd a week (at least) and reseveres.

Hope Kets gets a decent deal though.

I'm pretty happy with the lot we have now, as you say getting rid of Hamilton, Brady etc wouldn't do any harm. Not sure about Marcellino, with a fair wind he could turn out to be a hell of a signing, if the Premiership changes to a more continental style.

Marcelino must go. His sliding tackle away at Wimbledon last season must surely be the biggest joke in football - slid 5 yds and still missed player and ball. Only thing keeping him staying is wages and getting a fair wedge in return. #6m is a lot of money for a defender, especially one who's not been making the 1st team regularly.

I can see him going for #3.5 and getting someone like Helder in return.

This thread should be "who do we pick on next?" and it's my view that we shouldn't be picking on any of them.

If marcellion leaves and we don't reach an agreement over Helder we have Nik the Greek, Howey, Goma, Hughes Caldwell Bros and Beharall.

Everyone happy with this, given the injury record of both Howey and Goma

What about Barton and Griffin and Domi, granted they are not center backs but in a squeeze, could be interesting. I think we should rid ourselves of Howey, nice lad but the injuries just keep coming and coming.

I'm certainly not happy with the defensive choice - they're the same players who couldn't defend last season, and I see no reason to believe they will be significantly better this season.
We need a dominating centre half plus any one of the others, but preferably Helder if we can get him for a reasonable fee.

Has he definitely gone ? No NUFC club statement which is a worry.
