Need Recipes for Blackberry Anything

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I have been making blackberry jam and blackberry syrup until there is no tomorrow and I still have blackberries to pick. I am looking for recipes anyone might have on what else I can do with the blackberries. I'm open to any suggestions because I just don't want to miss the opportunity to use them. I am planning to make some blackberry ice cream with some of the syrup I canned but I will be looking for any more ideas of something I can make and preserve even if it is to freeze it. Tomorrow evening is our next big picking time so please rush your suggestions. Thanks all.

How about blackberry cordial? The Ball Blue Book should have a rec. if you have one and it doesn't let me know, I'll post it when I have a little more time.

Have a look in the older messages ... there are 2 or 3 topics about blackberry recipes

Colleen, I pick the berries, wash them gently and smash them into gallon ziplock freezer baggies. Then during the winter when I would kill for anything warm, and fruity, I defrost a bag to put over breakfast cereal, to make a cobbler, a pie, or I will grab several bags and make jam when the heat from the stove isn't as big a deal. I do this with almost all of my fruit. Vicki

When making jams or jellies, try adding liquors such as cassis (current) or kirsh (cherry) to add a bit of pizzaz to the flavor. The alchohol evaporates in the cooking.
