Sony DVP-S360 will it play VCD's?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

Hi all,

I am using a Sony DVD model DVP-S360 and I used winon cd to make a photo album. So far I haven't had any success with them being viewable on the machine... I have tried CD-R and CD-RW media.

When I use CD-R media is just thinks there isn't any cd instered in the Machine..

When I use a CD-RW media is comes up with a code 13 (which means the disc is dirty... this is a brand new disc though.)

My question is this: Has anyone had any luck with this model DVD being able to see slide shows?

Thanks in advance, John

Yes, but done with Nero and it must be on a CD-RW.

I have a sony dvp-s360 as well I have tried several burning programs and cdr/cdrw. The manual says it can only read cd-rw. The only kind I have found that it will play is memorex cd-rw platinum 74minute. These have worked every time using Nero/VideoPack4/WinOncd.

notes: 1)The picture seems clearer burning at 2x or lower.

2) A cdr and a cdrw are quite different. A cdrw contains a piece of metal impregnated in the disk. It changes on a molecure level which makes it re-writeable.

3) ALWAYS BRING A CDR/CDRW with you when you buy ANYTHING with a cd player these days. MAKE SURE it WILL work for ya. Sony is at the top of my hate list. Most of what I own is Sony. I WILL NEVER make that mistake again. (They are trying their hardest to stop copyright infringement these days.) I guess I can say one good thing about the LAST thing I bought from them. It was the video camera that can see thru clothes when you have the nightshot function on during the day! =o) Good for the beach!

To have the DVD player play a VCD, you must use NERO and enable PBS (Playback Support). I've converted my many home movies from my digital video camcorder to VCD and it works fine on my DVP S360. Good Luck.
