Did anyone hear Bobby on 5 Live on Monday night?

I forget what the show was called but he was interviewed by Claire Balding. It was on for an hour as they went from St. James's to the quayside and the Copthorne Hotel etc. He did mention that he hopes to sign another player this summer - no clues, no position or anything. I liked the way he spoke about wanting to win the title though. He didn't specify this season but he made it clear that he's told the chairman that he wants to win it. In other words "get me some money and I'll win it for you.". You know what? I believe him.

I heard bits of it.

The mix of ambition and experience/common sense that he put across was excellent.

I also got the impression he was looking for an extra 7 million to buy an extra player - but why 7 mill I do not know. A 'keeper? Seems to be represented in the squad numbers? i.e. sell Given, keep Harper as no.2...

It was called Time Out with (Clare) Balding, a new? Monday night series broadcast on Radio 5 Live between 8 and 9pm. The idea is a relaxed hour-long "off duty" chat with a sporting personality - and Bobby certainly didn't disappoint.

Just caught the last half hour and was absolutely spellbound by what he had to say on a range of topics from the need to sometimes "court martial" young players like Dyer and his admiration for dedicated sporting heroes like Shearer and Pete Sampras. It was really good stuff...with intelligent questions/chat from Clare.

BBC Online are currently revamping Radio 5's website, which did have links to some archived documentaries. But the new dedicated BBC Sport site at http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport/ has a link to what appears to be the Clare Balding chat with Bobby via "Audio/Video" in left column.

You can access the link direct via http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport/hi/english/audiovideo/default.stm

...but my Real Player doesn't produce the goods when I click on the "Bobby Robson profile" link you find there.

Hope it works - judging by the second half-hour, it's essential listening.

...and having said that, it appears the Robson chat has just (11.05am Tuesday) been deleted from the menu after a mid-morning site update. It may still be hanging around somewhere - but I can't find it.
