Oly C3030 and studio slave flashgreenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread |
Can the Olympus C3030 be used with White Lightening studio strobes via slave? I know there is no PC sync port. So... any ideas on how I can use this great camera with these great studio lights? Thanks

If you can set the camera for manual exposure, you should be able to use the built in flash to fire the studio lights

Shawn,I was having the same difficulty as well (no flash cord for my studio strobes), so I tried using a slave on my Novatron power pack. The results were inconsistent - sometimes the slaves would fire, most times not. The slave trigger has to be pretty sensitive, because the flash on the camera does not put out a great deal of light.
The next thing I'm going to try is mounting the flash slave on the camera and running a cord to the power pack. It's kinda Rube-Goldberg- ish, but I really hate not being able to use my strobes.

Use Olympus special cable to connect the C3030 to the strobes: FL-CB04 TTL-to-PC Sync. Item # 200 661 ($39.95 street) TTL 5 pin connector to PC Sync Socket (female). Use this cable to attach the C-3000/3030Zoom to a standard PC Sync cable. External PC Sync flashes or studio strobes are examples of equipment that would be connected.
