Just reminded of Buff's dating story while watching the Parkinson interview with Paul McCartney. Paul's just re-enacted his audition for the Beatles where he played and sang that song. Great song!! And I have to say Paul is still the sexiest Beatle!!

It is a great song - one of the classics of early rock. A song that probably caused more young English lads to pick up a guitar than we will ever know. Ever heard the original - by Eddie Cochran? I'm dating myself now, but Cochran - who was killed in a car crash at 21 - was a major influence on the Beatles and a lot of other sixties bands. As he was American, I doubt whether he ever played football, however (mandatory bit of football content, or is that required?)

I might have heard it. Somewhere I've got an album of Eddie cochrane's hits. First I'd heard of him was when U2 did C'mon Everybody during the Joshua Tree tour. I went nuts for their version and because they'd talked about how great Cochrane was, I went off to find a record with his version of that song on it. Now if I only had my turntable hooked up to an amp and speaker, I could play it again! :-)
