Technical rally from an "oversold" condition. Read chart analysis for short term. NOTHING has changed. OPEC will squeeze every last dime out of buyers until they push the price down where they want it for max. vol.

Heating Oil ( http://207.61.18.124/futures/quote/1HO.html ) and Nat. Gas ( http://futures.tradingcharts.com/chart/NG/80 ) are much more interesting. Speculators are betting that N.G. will finally find new markets but of course, it sells on an "exchange rate" with oil set in btus. Unleaded gas has probably peaked because there are enough supplies now for the rest of the summer and speculators will get burned. That explains the falling open interest.

We disagree on one point and that is excess production capacity. The market is going to force the Saudi's hand,it's put up or shut up time. If they can't come up with the extra oil there is no ceiling.
