Cool Pix 990 exposure modes

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I'd brought the Nikon Coolpix 990 for few days. I can't access to the "S" shutter priority "A" apeture priority or "M" manual mode. (the guide book tells press"MODE" twice and rotate the command dial, but I just turn to the "P" or "P*" mode. What settings/conditions could I use for accessing the modes above?

Press the Mode switch and hold it down while turning the command dial. It should cycle through all the different exposure modes.

I know that this is pretty basic but you are in the MREC not the AREC mode aren't you?

I had the same thing. Sent camera to factory as defective. Dumb move. Found in ARec Menu that I had Exp. AE Lock set to "On". This means that in taking panaorama shots, all shots will have the same exposure. I thought it meant exposure lock when pressing shutter halfway. When "on" is selected, this locks out all the things you are talking about. Hope this helps.......
