Is it true that there is a different version of the Storming of the Bastille in Washington? I've heard that they get the most miserable b*gger in the pub and lock him up in the old cage every year so that they can all have a quiet drink once a year without this gadgee ruining everyone's evening by foreboding doom and destruction for all men...;-)

All the best, Bill!

I wonder if they (SJP B'stards) have it in for people who were born in mid July? They lost my details from the data base a few years ago bill but I got them to rectify the fault. Fine birthday present they are giving us eh?

It certainly does look as if the runes hoyed on our behalf left a lot to be desired. And we're such canny lads really. Why ? What have we done ?

29 eh? Consider my glass raised in your direction on the day young Pit!

Doug,
I'm hoping I'll have time to try me new zimmer during one of my increasingly few periods of awareness which my lovely family have clubbed up and bought me. They think I don't know about it, but I wasn't really asleep when they hung me on a coatpeg in the shop while they bought it. I can't figure out why they've had casters put on it though. Any ideas ? :_||

Seriously, but, my dearling wife and I'll do a pizza place tomorrow night and a better clarss of restaurant, called The Blacksmith's Table, on Saturday.

Gav should know the pizza place as the old Co-Op at Fatfield just along from the Biddick pub, and the restaurant is in the old balcksmith's shop in the Village, which I can remember as a working blacksmith's, although I suppose most 29 year olds my age would remember it as well.

The days of going daft are long gone - it would ruin my image of being the Victor Meldrew of SJP, not that I ever let my guard slip that much anyway.

Geordie,
If you believe 29 you'll believe owt. If 'ladies of a certain age' can take liberties with the calendar, why can't 'miserable owld scrotes of a certain age', eh ?

-- Anonymous, July 13, 2000

And thanks very much to you all for the good wishes.

Bill, believe it or not I tried to buy the building that is now the Blacksmith's Table when I left school 16 years ago...me and my niece had a plan to turn it into a fish and chip shop....unfortunately those nice people at the TSB (the bank that likes to say F**k OFF!) turned us down for a 10k loan to get our plans on the road...I could've been a chip shop tycoon now instead of sitting on my arse doing bugger all in Switzerland :))

Oh and I don't remember it being a smithy....it was always a public toilet when I was growing up :))

That Pizza restaurant down in fatfield if quite nice....I booked it out one night about a year ago and treated the whole family to a meal....no blood anywhere :))

I hope you have a great evening mate!!

Have a great one, Bill!!

Pit Bill, I'm an old computer hacker and I deal in hexadecimal. 29 = 51 in decimal ;-))

I did question the 29 with a '?'

I'll still be raising the glass young Pit!!

Geordie,
You'll need to be counting to a base of about 17.781 to come up with me real age, but you'reAI'YA' erring on the side of complimentary, so thanks for that.

Gav,
You'd have had to have left school a bliddy sight longer ago than 16 years to remember it as a working smithy. Believe it or not, I was once a bairn, and it's from then I remember it - huge great cart horses, probably the store greengrocery and working farm horses. Very pictureskew.

Gav,
The public toilet is now part of the kitchen, but don't let that put you off, it isn't bad. Give it a go next time you're(AIYA) home.
