Does anyone know what the voltage and amps specs are for the CP 950 AC adaptor. I am thinking of buying a non-nikon adaptor.

thanx. ron

That's the EH-30 adapter. It is rated at 6.5 V. at 2.5 A.

Actually the current version is the EH-31 (came out with the CP-990) which was a minimal redesign to meet some RF regulations arround the world.

But... Would you risk you $600 plus camera (depending on when and were you bought it) to save a $20 bill? If so you are a higher roller than I am.

Bill,

I didn't realize that Nikon had allowed the EH-31 to replace the EH- 30. I believe it is rated at only 1.9 Amps rather than the EH-30's 2.5 Amps. It seems strange they would produce a new supply with lower current capability to replace the EH-30. It seems more logical to keep producing the older unit and use it with the new 990 and the older 950. If the 950 works well with a 1.9 A. supply, why did they ever design the EH-30 to produce 2.5 A.? People with inquiring minds want to know. ;-)

In any case, I agree with you. Nikon has made a very big issue of this in their technical forums. If you have problems with the camera you can bet they may try to use that as an excuse to refute warranty claims. It's not worth trying to save a few bucks.

Thanx for the advice. It is interesting to know the differences between the 950 & 990 adapter.

I will purchase the Nikon original adapter and not a non-standard. But where I come from its $50 not $20.
