Nice to see Pav's future a bit more settled. He's just joined Breschia on a 3 year contract, having taken advantage of a clause in his contract that let him have a free if he hadn't made a certain number of appearances.Good luck to the lad.

Aye, I'll second that. Pav was a great servant for the club and deserves to do wellJohnD

I'll third that. As a remembrance to long serving great of the club, a little quiz:Which manager signed him, and from where, and how much?
How many Newcastle managers did he survive?
Against who did he make his debut and when?

Pav was signed by Jim Smith, who bought him from Banik Ostrava for #350,000.He survived 3 managers, Jim Smith, Ossie Ardiles, Kevin Keegan. (Sold by Kenny Dalglish).
Made his debut against Sheff Wed on 19 April 1991.

P. S. Do I win a coconut or a goldfish?(Assuming I'm right of course). :-)

'Sold' does him undue credit: let him walk without even discussing a contract extension more like. Still, we found out that he had his eye on a promising French keeper at Sunderland! Ooh goody!

Don't forget that Shaka Hislop and Darren Peacock were also allowed to walk away on 'frees' during this period of extreme Toon philanthropism.
Arguably #4mm of talent(assets) that just walked out the door and didn't come back - saves fartin around with new Contracts and all that paperwork stuff, I suppose. Sheesh!

Correct of course Mungo. He sort of drifted slowly away, using the training facilities but out of contract almost right up to Gullit's appointment.
