Researching for Internet $$$

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Does anyone know of a legit Internet business that pays one to research on line? I am long on tenacity, and short of $$. I spend hours and hours researching work related information on my own time. Thanks for any pointers.

I don't know about the research places, but the survey sites DO pay out. I've made *LOTS* simply by filling out a couple of surveys a week that are emailed to me. Generally your name goes into a draw for the "prize" money (that way you're not being "paid") and it's purely fluke, but it's good for pin money.

In terms of research, I would avoid the online ones, as they smack of "piecework" and these sorts of businesses have all sorts of loopholes to avoid paying the people doing the work. However, check with your local employment office, or directory publishing firm, etc. They may well be looking for people to source online site addresses (URLs -- the things that start with http://) based in your area for local directories.
