Here comes the rain again!!

I am so fed up with this weather. Wet dogs, soggy garden, and the heating went back on yesterday. I think this global warming stuff is rubbish - despite a concerted effort on my part to create a hole in the ozone layer over Bashley I am still unable to grow oranges in my garden, and dining al fresco is more akin to dining al frosto!(:o)

Good idea Galaxy.

Start a sing-song!

Here Comes the Rain Again

By the Eurythmics

Here comes the rain again Falling on my head like a memory Falling on my head like a new emotion I want to walk in the open wind I want to talk like lovers do I want to dive into your ocean Is it raining with you

{Refrain} So baby talk to me Like lovers do Walk with me Like lovers do Talk to me Like lovers do

Here comes the rain again Raining in my head like a tragedy Tearing me apart like a new emotion Oooooh I want to breathe in the open wind I want to kiss like lovers do I want to dive into your ocean Is it raining with you

{Refrain}

So baby talk to me Like lovers do

Here comes the rain again Falling on my head like a memory Falling on my head like a new emotion (Here is comes again, here it comes again) I want to walk in the open wind I want to talk like lovers do I want dive into your ocean Is it raining with you

{Repeat last verse to fade}

(No doubt the formatting will be sh@gged!)

Galaxy, Forget Pilgrims Eurythimics and Raining on my Parade, grit your teeth gal, light up the barby and give "Ging Gang Gooly, Ging Gang Gay" some welly, and smile darn you smile. BTW my dog has withdrawal symptons when it can not be in the water, refuses to drink from bowl, prefers hosepipe!!!!

Hope you enjoyed that one.

Screacher was a bit off key as usual.

Heres a BBS Favourite!

Camp Genada

by Allan Sherman.

( The music is "Dance of the Hours")

Hello mother, hello father, here I am at Camp Grenada. Camp is very entertaining, and they say we'll have some fun if it stops raining...

I went hiking with Joe Spivy. He developed poison ivy. You remember Leonard Skinner; He got ptomaine poisoning last night after dinner.

All the counselors Hate the waiters, And the lake has alligators. And the head coach Wants no sissies, So he reads to us from something called Ulysses.

Now I don't want this to scare ya; But my bunkmate has malaria. You remember Jeffrey Hardy... they're about to organize a searching party.

Take me home, oh mother, father. Take me home, I hate Grenada. Don't leave me out in the forest where I might get eaten by a bear. Take me home, I promise I will not make noise Or mess the house with other boys. Oh please don't make me stay! I've been here ONE -- WHOLE -- DAY.

Dearest father, Darling mother, How's my precious little brother? Let me come home if you miss me. I would even let Aunt Bertha hug and kiss me...

Wait a minute... It stopped raining! Guys are biking. Guys are sailing, playing baseball... gee, that's better!

Mother, father, kindly disregard this letter!

Galaxy
If it's any consolation, I've been sweating me porverbials off in Samos for the last two weeks. Great holiday but too hot - over a hundred at times, and supposedly about 20 C higher than it usually is this time of years.

Plus the uncertainty of not being able to get back Sunday because of the fires which have been raging since Friday. What a mess, and still nowhere near under control.

Turned out not to be too difficult to leave - 20 mins delay while they shipped in loads of extra firemen, so I'm back at work, but now I'm freezing me proverbials off, so I'm well and truly in owled gadgy mode.

Thanks Bill, now me and Jay know where to find all the firemen! ;-)

I'm off to Skiathos at the end of the week. Can't wait to get some sun!

Thanks you lot! Nothing like a bit of community singing to lift the spirits!!! I didn`t join in `cos I am famous for getting the words wrong - sang the well known Madonna single `Popadom Beach` for weeks before Yelli couldn`t stand it any longer and put me straight!

Another treat too, whilst polishing the kitchen tiles, hearing the John Rutter arrangement of `For the Beauty of the Earth` sung at the Quueen Mother`s thanksgiving service. Not a church-goer myself, but it brings back treasured memories of hearing Yelli in the `baby` choir at her school - always brings a lump to my throat!

So not only is my kitchen sparkling and my mood lifted, but the sun has come out! Well done you lot - the power of positive thinking!(:o)

Sorry Pit Bill, I forgot to say I was pleased that you are safely home. I was listening to the news this morning, and it sounds as though it has been pretty dreadful out there.(:o)

Galaxy,
Not just Samos, so you may find it warmer than you're expecting, although I haven't heard Skiathos mentioned yet specifically. It's hot as the hobs though, even without the fires, so don't go daft, the breeze can fool you into thinking it's not as hot as it actually is. But enjoy.,

"....dining al fesco.."
Unfortunately, we don't have any of Al's restaurants up in North Shields - is this a new chain?

-- Anonymous, July 11, 2000

I think you should be approaching Big Al with that idea! Excellent! (:o)

-- Anonymous, July 11, 2000

I wouldn't mind dining on Al!!

Oh, look at the time, must run!. ;-)))
