every sony player I HAVE TRIED (not all) except mine, reads cdrw, but not cdr. mine reads cdr but i havent been able to get any cdrw to work. can anybody suggest an rw to use?

I have this DVD changer/player also. It will not read any CDRW that I could find however it will read all different types of CDRs very accurately.It is a dual laser which was removed in the next year's model 660D which now can not read any CDRs. Although it would be nice for it to read CDRWs so that you can experiment more with making VCDs, from my reading on the boards, reading CDRWs can vary and inaccuracies can occur. Since this model DVD is very accurate with reading CDRs, I never worry about having a disc go bad.

Also this sony DVD player will play SVCDs but other sonys will not. I downloaded a SVCD image file from the net (SVCD faq site) and burnt it to a CDR and It worked perfectly. This disc would not play on other sonys which I tried to test it on at various stores. Consider this a bonus and I would rather have this capability than CDRW capability if this was the choice.
