Non-orienteering event report -- Lawrence Bike Club Lizard Ride.

greenspun.com : LUSENET : orienteer kansas : One Thread

I recently suggested OKers post more event reports on the discussion pages. So, I'll post a non-Orienteering event report.

This morning, several OKers rode the Lizard Under the Skillet ("it was so hot that I saw a lizard crawl in to the campfire just to be in the shade of the skillet") bike ride in Lawrence. Mean Gene, Dan and I rode together and did the middle distance (around 38 miles). The route was pleasant and familiar to anyone who has done much riding around Lawrence. From Broken Arrow Park, we went south and east, then south to Highway 56, west to Baldwin, then north back to Lawrence.

There may have been some other OKers at the event (Grover? Rick? Others?), but if they were there I did not see them.

The theme was hot weather. The first SAG stop featured piping hot coffee. The last stop had nachos and Jalapeno ice cream.

Actually, the weather was not so bad. The ride began early. You could start any time between 6:30 and 8:00. We finished before it was really hot. I went for a short run a bit later and by that time it was much hotter and the humidity made it rough.

I'm pouting now because I was not in the loop to do the ride.

Probably it was a case of confusion of identities. Who should the invitation have gone out to: rooster, clogs, scarecrow, or lemon moraine? No wonder Fritz didn't hear about it. Peace in the Middle East looks easy in comparison with trying to figure out to hail the man with the chicken hat!

I thought I mentioned it to you when I talked to you on the phone Saturday. If I didn't, it was an unintentional oversight.

Are you insinuating that I suffer from Dissociative Identity Disorder?
