What if Jesus had been martyred by impalement instead of by crucifiction? Impalement was common in those days and would be an even worse way to die than crucifiction. Think of it--Christian church altars would have to display pointed sticks instead of artsy crosses.

al-d, I heed God's warnings every day. One of the benefits of spiritual practice is that intuition opens up and guidance comes a callin'. But thank you for the reminder.

Nemesis, I refer to Monty Python. It was a vague reference, as so many of mine are. I just can't seem to hear or read the words pointed stick without immediately thinking of Eric Idle's monotone "what about pointed sticks?" and John Cleese shouting "Shut- up!!!"

Python has spoiled me for life. I could think of worse ways to go mad, mad, mad!
