Vulcan locomotives

Am trying to identify lineage of Tennessee & North Carolina number 8, a 2-6-2. One source lists it as a Vulcan made in 1925. Does anyone have a Vulcan list and can provide construction number and date?

Thanks

Jerry,

I dont think it was built in 1925, more then likely it was bought in 1925. Durring 1925 they only built two 2-6-2s and one was a tank engine. Now I doubt it would be a tank engine(and it went to Oregon anyway) the other (c/n 3525 3/1925) was built for the Marion Ry#6 of New York and then sold to the Maryland & Delaware Seacoast in 1932. No other 2-6-2s were built that year. Other 2-6-2s built by Vulcan: 2250 11/1913 Marathon County RR #2 Strafford,WI 2389 6/1915 Kentucky, Rockcastle & Cumberland Caryton,KY 2535 2/1916 Fairchild & Northeastern RR #12 Fairchilf, WI to Connor Land aand Lbr. to Laona & Northern Ry #4

3254 10/1922 Marion Ry #5 to P.R.R> 11/1932. new boiler Baldwin xo-8440-22.

That pretty much does it for the 2-6-2s built by Vulcan. They only built one other past 1925 and it was still in operation in the 1960's.

If I had to quess I would pick the 2389 as its the closest to the T&NC. The 2-6-2 was not one of their popular wheel arrangements!
