View Toshiba M4 MultiMode Images on PC

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I recently picked up a Toshiba M4 and last night discovered the MultiMode feature. It takes a series of pictures, and when you 'play' it on the camera's LCD, it is like a mini movie.

It looks cool on the LCD! Now I want to view it on my PC. When I transfer the MultiMode image it comes over as a single image file that contains all the individual images tiled on it.

It would be nice to have a way to 'extract' all the individual images and then animate them as an .AVI or .MOV file. I started to do this manually using an image editing program but it was too painful and I'm not acurate enough with the mouse.

I thought I read about one of the big graphics packages being 'scriptable'. I am hoping that I can write a script to position the cursor, make the selection, write to a file, repeat. Then take the individual image files and animate them.

Does any of this sound possible with off the shelf packages or do I need to resort to writing code to do this?

I haven't checked it out, but I seem to recall that the Sierra Imaging "Image Expert" software that comes with Toshiba cameras can play those back as animations... If that's any help?

The camera came with Ver. 1.8.4 (260) and I can't find anything like that in this version. It appears that there is a newer version on the SierraImaging website so perhaps it is in the newer version of the package. I'll try the upgrade I guess and see if the new version has that feature.
