WImbledon Fans on Cort - read this

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

I have just borrowed this from nufc.com - not all that encouraging is it? Sounds like us laying into Maric or Anderson or someone.

Good Riddance

Two-fingered salutes seem to be the order of the day from London SW19, with Dons fans seemingly glad to see the back of wor new lad. Comments such as:

"I hope that NUFC's new fans charter did not include - the club makes every effort available not to sign sulky overpriced players from that London, like...."

"He's talented but lazy. Hope the legendary Bobby Robson can make a man of him."

"We now finally have proof that old man Robson has gone senile. Maybe he lured him to St James' with a packet of Werthers originals".

"He no doubt contributed to our demise with a second half of the season display typified by his petulant stroll off the pitch when substituted for the goal scoring substitute, super John Hartson in the Villa game. He then shouted his dirty mouth off and his reward is a 'dream move' to a 'big club".

"It does show that even Terry Burton (who would have worked closely with Cort over his career) wanted him out. Let's have a crew who want to sail our ship."

"Dons to Newcastle never works - Beasant, Thorn, Barton who took three years to have half of a fair season. All of these had more backbone than Cort and struggled, how will he cope in the shadow of Shearer, won't be too much running for centre halves there"

There you have it. In amongst some sour grapes, a genuine lack of respect for Cort and disbelief that we've paid that much for him. Only time will tell whether they'll climb out of the Nationwide with whatever they buy to replace him. At least they weren't daft enough to take any of our tat in part exchange....

Let's just remember what we called Ginola and Hamman when they "deserted" us - with hindsight, they weren't bad players where they?
I'm sure CC's over-priced at #7mm, but at 22 he's a development project for BR & AS - let's judge him with our own eyes and not take too much notice of relegated whingers.
