Answers

Canadian Mountain Standard Time.

June, really wet, warm but wet. July, usually hot and sticky, not this time. July 3, SNOW, yes that's snow. Wasn't bad in the city, only an inch or two, but west of the city got hit by a white-out. They had to bring in snowploughs...in July fer Christ's sake. I agree with Clarky, weather patterns are changing. Scary stuff.

July 7th Queensland - 2pm (a couple of hours ago) 24 degrees, sunny, a slight breeze. Magpies out cavorting and starting to build their nests, and getting a bit stroppy. Absolute depths of winter here. ;-)))

On a side note. The first Magpie hatchlings usualy appear on the opening week of the EPL. Omen???

Pete IC,
Snow in July - and I was feeling sorry for myself!
The sun has put in an appearance today, and I feel much better. Reminds me of that song called "Camp Granada" from a million years back - "Wait a minute the sun is shining, guys are singing, guys are sailing. Dear mother, father kindly disregard this letter!"
I once got snowed in (3 ft of snow) for three days in early May at a fairly remote farmhouse near Albany NY with a couple of business colleagues. The farmhouse was well equipped and the total isolation was actually rather enjoyable. We were finally ploughed out on day 4.

Sorry Clarky but the prize has been claimed by Dr Bill. (See Mornin All thread 2 june)

But you can join us sad lot who remember the song well.

" Take me homme Oh mudda fadda"

Hiro,
Damn!!!
Know it well - hate to admit it, but remember it from 'Children's Favourites' request programme on a Saturday morning.

We'll be singing 'My Boomerang Won't Come Back' in a minute...or 'Louis the Sixteenth was King of France...' was that Wayne and Schuster?

-- Anonymous, July 07, 2000

Sorry, should have looked here before I posted 'floods'. Anyway it's persisting down here. There was 82 mm in an hour on Tuesday and now it's the edge of a typhoon. Looks like little sleep tonight.

Blimey Kegsy, sounds dodgy! Hope you're alright. Let us know if Jaap Stam's football sails past, won't you? :-)

Yay!! Under 40 and American..so nee idea!! Gawd it's nice to be 'too young' to know something for a change! :-)))

As for weather, Boston is gorgeous today!! I think the high is supposed to be in the low 70's, breezy, sunny with little puffy white clouds. Not typical summer weather(last year at this time it was a swealtering 90+ and humid). Just right for me, though. Any warmer or more humid and I start getting uncomfortable and cranky. I'm actually quite looking forward to summers in northern England...not much chance of the heat and humidity I detest. I know, I know...I'm weird. ;-D

Kegsy, hope things are alright for you. Are typhoons like hurricanes? No fun for any but the weathermen.

-- Anonymous, July 07, 2000

I'll tell you what. If the answers aren't in by Monday I'll give you the answers in the wrong order and you can try to match the artists to the songs.

-- Anonymous, July 07, 2000

Gilly gilly = Max Bygraves

Pink Toothbrush = Max Again

Mr Custer= Charlie Drake

My Boomerang = Charlie Drake

Grandad = Clive Dunn and the obnoxious little gits choir.

Sad or what!!

-- Anonymous, July 07, 2000

26 Theres a friend for little children = Gary Glitter

-- Anonymous, July 07, 2000

Hiro - There's no R in fiend!

-- Anonymous, July 07, 2000

Ciara,
I defy you to be echoing the same sentiments after you've spent say 3 consecutive Summers here.
I remember annoying Californians from SF all the way down to Santa Barbara telling me how wonderful they thought their 'natural' air-conditioning was when we drove all that way down the Pacific Coastal Route through fog and mid- 50 degree temperatures in July a couple of years ago - we were not amused, but should suppose have felt totally at home!

-- Anonymous, July 07, 2000

You're on Clarky! Pints at the Strawbeery? I've always revelled in cool/cold weather. And England still boasts enough glorious sunny and warm days to enjoy. A lifetime of heatwaves and humidity, I'll be more than happy to give it up. Of course now that I've said this, I'm virtually guaranteeing my first summer in England will be the hottest weather on record. Just my luck. ;-))

-- Anonymous, July 07, 2000

In that case Ciara, "come on over!" - I badly need some decent, prolonged sunny weather.
Actually your partly right - when we do get a decent spell of weather there is simply no better place to be - it's just so damned infrequent.
However, the die is cast, and as you suggest, the pints will be on me.

-- Anonymous, July 07, 2000

I`ll second that Clarky - I bet we could even have a whip round for her fare if Ciara could guarantee bring us the good weather!(:o)

-- Anonymous, July 07, 2000

Careful what you ask for folks.. Anyway if I do bring a prolonged heatwave, make my pints iced tea...LOTS OF ICE!! :-)

-- Anonymous, July 07, 2000

......not to mention a big dollop of "Long Island"!!
