VCDCR32 fault when starting to adding to EZ CD Creator 4.02

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

My PC is an Intel 750 w/128MB RAM. I am capturing MPEG-1 files from an ATI All-In-Wonder 128 PRO AGP 32MB. I am using default values to capture to MPEG-1. Files play OK on my PC. When using Adaptec EZ CD Creator 4.02 to burn a VCD, I get a GPF/Page Fault caused by VCDCR32. It occurs after validating the file (OK).

I've checked win.ini and system.ini setting in MCI area and seem OK.

Also updated ASPI driver from Adaptec.

Any suggestions. HELP !!!

The ATI card won't produce White Book proper VCD files unless you leave the settings at "default", which produces a very poor quality. However that alone may not be your only problem. There are a ton of other issues also. Check my web page for a "lot" of information specifically about the ATI AIW 128 cards.

There's a lot of reading there and you may find it interesting.

I have the same problem, but with all my MPEG-1 files. I had Xing- MPEG player installed. After I un-installed the Xing, the problem is gone.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Your problem is a software conflict. I have experienced the same problem and I had to go to my system.ini file and and ensure that Mpegvideo=mciqtz.drv the same applies for MPEGVideo1 and 2 and Active Movie. The ATI Sofware uses mciatim1.drv and will change your system setting when you install the MMC Software, Xing does the same thing. There was an article in the forum sometime ago about the same issue or a similar one that you both are experiencing. Good luck.

I was experiencing Vcdcr32 fault all the while until I went into system.ini and rem those files that associated with mcicinem.drv in the MCI section. Good luck.
