Reposting stuff from this board onto others....

greenspun.com : LUSENET : FRL friends : One Thread

Hi Gang, I have a request for all of you. I kindly ask that you not re-post stuff that I put up here on this board to other places, unless you remove my name first.

As I checked into uncensored today to see if there was anything worthy of note, I noticed that someone had reposted the 26 guards story there. Of course the typical answers followed.

I don't think that the folks on that forum are the type in general to appreciate inspirational stories, and I am not wild about throwing pearls before swine, either.

I notice that there is also a link to our little forum there, too. I wonder how long before the pests show up.......

Good point, sis.

I think it is poor netiquette to repost someone else's personal material without permission. However, I have seen that particular story before. I think I got it in my email.

Some of them have shown up here, but they quietly disappeared. Must have been the deletion fairy or something.

I don't think that someone from this forum reposted that. Either someone stopped in and liked it, or happened to get it in an email circle..is my guess. I just can't picture anyone posting anything from here there...especially since 90% of us don't even go there anymore.

My apologies, I just went to see the replies you were talking adout, and I see what you mean. It is a direct repost.

-- kritter (kritter@adelphia.net), July 05, 2000.

sis, I wouldn't worry too much about the cross-posting. Even though the uncensored forum is mostly argument of personalities and such, nowadays, there are still some good folks who hang out there, and I'm sure some of the readers appreciated your story.

As for the pests showing up here, well, it's funny but on the old forum, even though we had LOTS of trolling in the "real" threads, the FRL ones were practically immune to such. I think that everyone realizes these threads are a place for teasing and tolerance, for fun and friendship. And so, it just works out that any obnoxious posts are just ignored, which is the quickest way to kill that kind of activity, anyway.

We've got a good little forum here, and even though I had nothing to do with starting it, I call it home. My thanks to all of you who populate it.

Yes, Lon, I really like it here. Cozy, comforting, supportive and encouraging. Makes me feel like being in a overstuffed chair in the cottage living room, with a purring cat on my lap and a pot of fresh coffee just done brewing. The crackling fire and the rain gently falling outside are the only other sounds I hear.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh, feel free to pour yourself a mug of coffee and sit down here with me.

-- (sis@home.zzz), July 06, 2000.

OHHHHH, sis, that does look like a comfy chair. I'll just ease myself down here besi......WOO-HOO, wha... oh, look out!

Sorry, I just sat on the cat. Didn't seem to hurt her none, but boy if looks could kill, I'd be done for.

Yeah, it looks like I spilled my coffee, too. That was a pretty rug, though. Now ain't you glad I happened to stop by?

(got any cookies?)

Well, that's ok Lon, except that cat was sitting in my lap, and I guess you didn't see me, since I was wearing that sweater that matched the chair so well......

Not a problem, I'll just get that bissell spot lifter, and Voila! mess is gone.

Now, Lon, shall I give you some more coffee in a kiddie cup or can you handle a mug?

Want some fresh raspberry cobbler, too? Just made it fresh from my berries picked today, it's so fragrant, hot and pretty! Here's some whipped cream on top, too. Now, why don't you have a seat with me at the little kitchen table? I think I'll have a piece of that, too!

mmmmmmmmmm

ps. Anybody want more raspberry canes this fall? They are sprouting up all over the place......

Now if I can only get those moles who are currently driving me crazy to leave.......

-- (sis@home.zzz), July 06, 2000.

Well, ACTUALLY, sis, I kinda, you know, meant to accidently sit in your lap (wink, wink)

But you mean you're gonna trust me with raspberry cobbler after what I did to the rug? You're a brave but foolish woman!

Oh, and don't give no mind to those moles. Lot's a women got 'em. I think they are kinda nice when one is by your mouth, you know. I think it's called a beauty spot or somethin'.

:)

Just took cookies out of the oven. . .

We've got Honey melt-a-ways, chocolate chip, or how 'bout a good ole fashioned oatmeal raisin?

:-) Got milk?

-- Brooke (Happiness@Hill.top), July 06, 2000.

HOney MeltAways sound heavenly!! Receipe please!! I'll take whatever ya'all are handing out..and you can have some of my yummy homemade Lemon 6ars. My children magically appear from whereever they are when the scent of Lemon 6ars floats through the air.

(((((Brooke))))) YES! Recipes, please! You too, Kritter! :-)

-- Gayla (privacy@please.com), July 06, 2000.

(((Gayla))) (((Kritter)))

As you requested :-)

Honey Melt-A-Ways

Preheat oven to 350

1 Cup Honey

2 Sticks of butter or margarine (I use butter)

1/2 Cup sugar

1 Egg

4 Cups sifted flour

2 Teaspoons baking soda

1 1/2 Teaspoon vanilla extract

Cream butter and sugar til fluffy. Add egg, beat well. Add honey and vanilla, beating well. Gradually add dry ingredients, beating well after each addition. Chill in refrigerator a little while (until cookie dough firms up a bit). Drop by teaspoons onto ungreased cookie sheet and bake about 10 minutes. Cookies should be lightly browned on top, and will still be soft. Let cool on cookie sheet for a minute or two, then remove to cooling rack.

That's WAY too complicated for me ...... has more than 3 ingredients and one utinsel (utensil (?P, spoon, fork, pot or whatever ..... (thing to clean up) so it must be cookin'.

You'll have to email them to Fedex to ship to UPS to attach to DHL's homepage so I can get 'em over the web.......

Thanks Brooke! Will try them soon. :-) Kritter... still waiting...

-- Gayla (dreaming@bout.cookies), July 11, 2000.

Wow, totally forgot all about that. It's right out of the Better Crocker cookbook. Everyone has one of them in their kitchens, don't they? Wish I could claim it as my own, but I've never had an original receipe in my life. I'm amazed at any woman who can just "make up" some new dish. If it's not in a cookbook or on the back of a box, I'm clueless.

But we can copy from other forums into here....this from the "Frog in a blender" thread on the "Free Republic" forum this morning.

---...---...---

There once was a little frog who wanted to take out a home improvement loan to fix up his pad. His name is Kermit Jagger. He hopped over to his local bank, went up to the teller and said, "Hi, I'd like to take out a loan to fix up my pad."

The teller replied, "You need to see our loan officer. Her name is "Patricia Black."

So the frog hops over to the loan officer's desk and sits down. When Patricia arrives she ask, "What can I do for you?"

The frog says, "I'd like to take out a loan to fix up my pad."

Patricia asked, "What do you have for collateral?"

After thinking for a couple of moments about what he could offer the frog reaches into his little froggy pocket and pulls out a small white elephant.

"This is a very unusual form of collateral." said Patricia. "I'll have to check with our bank president to see if it's ok."

Patricia goes to the president and says, "There's a frog named Kermit Jagger out there who want's a home loan and this white elephant is all he is offering for collateral. What should I do?"

The bank president takes the small white elephant and after carefully examining it hands it back to Patricia and says,

"It's a nick-knack Patty Black give the frog a loan. His old man's a Rolling Stone."

Well, Robert, I still think you should change your last name to Non-Cook :-)

And I *loved* your joke LOL :-D
