Sony S70 and Windows 2000 not compatable

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I purchased a Sony S70 for my company. I was very impressed with the camera. My problem happened when I sent the camera to our job site where it is to be used to record construction related activities. The computer staff of our company had upgraded all of the computers at the site to WINDOWS 2000. When we tried to install the software on these computers the message comes back that it is not compatable with this operating system. SONY tells me that they do not have a fix for this problem. Any suggestions? (other than returning the camera) I hate to throw in the towel on this camera but I also need the pictures.

The info you received is simply incorrect for some time. Win2K drivers for Sony S30/S50/S70 models have been available for some time on Sony's Japan website. They are now downloadable from Sony-USA at the URL

[Thanks to Steve Slip's post on www.dpreview.com for the URL!]

Click the section for Product Updates and select the Cybershot drivers. Installation directions are available at the same location.
