Low cost PC card with TV-Out connector

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

Do low cost PC cards with TV-Out connectors exist? I've looked around and seem to be paying for extra graphics capabilities that I don't need or want.

Reason: I'm planning on creating a slideshow of chosen digital images on my PC and recording it on regular video tape via the TV. I can then run through the tape in the front room (i.e. not where my PC is) for friends and family to see in comfort. The tape also makes a great gift for my family members who live a distance away.

Maybe there's an alternative solution to the above?

You don't need a card to do this - an external scan convertor will do just fine. Here are a couple that are reasonable: Averkey iMicro     Where to get it

TVAtor Where to get it
Make sure the unit you buy will do the resolution you want.
These units plug into where your monitor normally plugs in, but then you connect the monitor to it. Your monitor and PC will not be effected - but this little box will then offer an NTSC output that you can record on your VCR.
