Hey...life kinda sucks for me right now, and I think probably a few others of you out there. Does anyone know anything we could all do to make ourselves feel better?

Let's think here... my life's on that suckage route right now. The forum's O question is entertaining me though. Scary that that's the highlight of my day. My biggest suggestion is to get out and do something, be it bask in the sun, go to a movie, jog, anything. Just get out of the house/lab/office/whatever and do something different. That tends to help me.

well, what helped me was starting a blogger team on my weblog. uhh it's fun!! it's exhilarating!! but well, if you don't have a webpage, talking to nice people helps, having a nice conversation, buying things!! buying things is always good. that always picks my spirits up to look at my new purchases. but whatever works for you...

ps: yeah, that O forum is too much...

life would be great if my dearest friend and my aunt didn't have cancer, and if i hadn't/haven't been sick for almost a month now, and if it rained once in awhile in texas. ah, rain. the thought brings tears to my eyes...

other than that, i think that fudgecicles are helping me the most.

Rain? You want rain? It's been pouring down here all week, and this is supposed to be summer! You want rain, you can have it - ALL of it.

As far as the life suckage goes - GET A GRIP! The two ultimate truths in life: weekends are too short and relationships never work out the way you want them to. And all you can do is learn to live with it. In other words, it's up to you and you alone. If you want to make yourself feel better, get up off your ass and make yourself feel better. Life's too short to mope around like that.

Well if you were a woman I'd say try the tennis ball method, but since you can't do that.... Anne Lamott says that when life really has you down and out and you are sort of moping around like a sick drag queen what you need to do is treat yourself like a mentally ill patient, frequent treats and lots of snacks. Take yourself to a movie, buy a hardcover that you can't afford, nature walks and lots of them. Comfort food too like grilled cheese and one of those malteds that come in the big tin container from a diner. Endless amounts of love and attention from yourself. Works for me.

I'm pretty intimately familiar with Life Suckage, and I stumbled across something the other night as I was not sleeping:

Aqua's album "Aquarius."

I'll be damned if "Cartoon Heroes" and "Halloween" don't whip me into a dancin' frenzy. And if you're looking to wallow, Kittie's album "Spit" rocks just too damn much.

Sun...must have sun....(if you live in seattle like me and have not sun...fake bake...must have tanning bed....)

While you are laying out write a poem/journal/story/etc...get your emotions out on paper....

cry...that always seems to help....

Or, go hang out with friends....you know those screwball friends everyone has that make you laugh till you want to wet yourself?? Don't let yourself wallow for too long!

Those are my methods for cheering up....

Drew I hear ya!! Life is on and off sucky all the time... what do I do--all the wrong things to try to compensate... that is, buy things, lots of things to the point of bankrupcy, and eating naughty food. bad bad. it feels good for a minute but then you feel sucky all over. So what do I think you should do--what should I do, but don't... * try anything new and fun--take a class, get a new cd you haven't heard of before just because it looks good * go play with puppies.. anywhere you can find them. puppies can make anyone smile. or a parrot! * rent a good funny movie and wet your pants laughing * go see some standup, or watch Chris Rock's HBO special--or old eddie murphy. janeane garofalo is also great because she says life sucks, but makes you feel better about it. * watch Daria. Hey, I like the show and she;s so cynical she even beats me out!! * do some gardening or grow something. it sounds corny but you get so darn proud when your stuff starts to grow or you do some hard physical stuff

ok so i am thunked out.... i guess these all sound pretty corny but I think you should do something, anything, to keep yourself busy and interested. I'll let you know If I put any of these to practice, and how they work out.

Swim.... slowly... flot mostly , become one with the water, I find it most relaxing and it brings a smile to my face . That and go to bed early and get up when you are supposed to, you know, get the kind of sleep you are supposed to get, I always feel better well rested.
