If I am right in thinking that Jackie Milburn was Bobby and Jackie Charlton's uncle, how come they aren't putting their hands in their pockets for their family?

I thought the club were planning to buy the medals and caps etc for the museum?

To be fair, in 'their day' players still saw very little in the way of cash, and I doubt they could come up with a suitable renumeration package for the great man's widow.

It should be the club itself, or the FA who ensure Mrs Milburn is looked after...and without having to sacrifice her mementos.

The best suggestion I've heard is the Club should lease the medals from Mrs Milburn - thereby providing her with a regular income for life without the Club needing to shell out a big wedge.
The Club could then exhibit the Great Man's medals in the Trophy Cabinet - alongside the UEFA & Texaco Cup replicas, and the Northumberland Senior Cup.
There should still be plenty of room!
