No sound after capturing on .avi

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

To all experts, I have this problem on capturing video from vcr. While I'm capturing it, it has a sound. But when it's done and I played the .avi, it has no sound at all. I used different kinds of video capture software (i.e. MGI Video Magic, Ulead Media Studio, Ulead Video Studio) but still the same ... no sounds !!!!

I have ATI All-in-Wonder 32 and MMC Ver. 6.3.

Anyone please help me with this.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, I'm not sure if the ATI All-in-Wonder uses the Line-in of your sound card to capture audio, but if it does, make sure that the volume is not set to mute for the line in. To check this, go to the control panel and open Multimedia, then in the audio tab, click the button directly under the Playback heading (with the gold speaker). Then click Options>Properties, then click the radio button for Recording and click OK. You will be given about 7 volume bars. Find the one that says Line In and uncheck the box that says Mute. Also, I wouldn't set the volume to more than half or your recording won't sound right. Now, just click Options>Exit and you are done. That should work. I hope I was of some help.

Thanks Mr. Roswell for your reply. I did what you said but unfortunately I still have the same problem. I think if the problem is in the Line-in of my sound card, I will never get the sound when I'm capturing a movie in the first place ... but again, "IT HAS A SOUNDS" (WHILE CAPTURING). THE PROBLEM IS, IF I'M PLAYING THE CAPTURED VIDEO (.AVI), "THE SOUNDS IS GONE!!!!".

Could you please help me again with this??? Or, somebody out there with a clue to give me some hint.

Many thanks again as always.

Go to this url, it solved the same problem for me

http://support.atitech.ca/infobase/2227.html

the important part of this page for me was (which solved the same problem):

Check the recording volumes on the mixer, to ensure that the audio channel carrying TV sound (typically Line IN) is set to a reasonable level. Also ensure that this channel is SELECTED and NOT MUTED (some mixers may show a "select" checkbox for each channel, while others have a "mute" checkbox).
