Bad sound while playing on TV

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

Hi, I am using a Firewire card and a Sony Digital 8 camera to capture the video(.avi) using Ulead Visual Studio software. During the capture I have used the PAL standard template available in Visual Studio. Then I have created intermediate avi file for PAL. This AVI file is then used to create the MPEG-I file for VCD with two different encoders. Then I have created two VCDs using Nero with the follwoing results :

Encoder On PC On TV (DVD Player - Pioneer 525) ------------------------------------------------------------- AVI2CD Picture quality is Picture quality is not not very good as good as the original specially while playing video tape quality. full screen. Sound quality is good Sound quality is good.

TMPGEnc Picture quality is quite Picture quality OK but good(full screen). But not as good as in PC(1) not as good as Sound is really broken up. (2) the original video tape. Sound is good. I am new to this VCD thing. Any advice is appreciated, specially (1) why I am losing the picture quality while playing on TV ? (2) why is the sound quality bad ?

Thanks,

Abhijit

Tried to put the results from the two encoders in a tabular form in the text area, but it seems that it is not represented that way. Here is my question again. For AVI2CD the picture quality is not very good while running on PC FULL screen, but on TV it is better than PC. Sound is good. With TMPGEnc the picture quality is quite good(full screen) on PC, sound is also good. But while playing on TV the picture quality is not as good as in PC and the sound is really broken up. Any idea why I am losing the picture quality and sound on TV with TMPGEnc ?

Thanks,

Abhijit
