Beckham to skipper England?

Alan Shearer has commented that he feels David Beckham could be the right man to skipper England after his retirement from international football.

United's star midfielder would relish the opportunity to lead his country, but he will face tough competition for the role from Sol Campbell and Tony Adams.

Kevin Keegan would no doubt have to take the thought very seriously on a player who is arguably England's most talented, and Beckham himself commented:

"I have a great deal of pride when I pull on an England shirt, but to captain my country would be the ultimate dream for me."

"I have always harboured dreams of captaining the teams I play for, be that Manchester United or England. I can think of no greater honour."

"Just being part of the England set-up and playing for my country is an achievement to me. But given the chance, of course I would love to Captain my country."

The last of the captains was Joe Harvey, and probably myself, leader of teams on the park and social activities off, afraid now the role of skipper is to harangue the official, suppose Beck`s is ideal,on a learning curve with Paddy Keane at the other United.

Oh perleeease! He sets such a good example to others doesn't he? Frankly, I'd rather see Stan Collymore captaining England!
Well, on second thoughts .... maybe not.
