Thanks al. I like your thinking on this issue. You've obviously put a great deal of effort into formulating an opinion.

Using a formula for minimum donations can make things a helluva lot easier on the budget though al. I find I cant just dip into what little I have for spending each week because then I wouldnt have any money at all. One can always dump an extra "jackson" into the kitty when the mood strikes, say a bonus is received in the pay packet or the ponies are paying big numbers. Or one can always make a withdrawal from the offering bucket if one is a little light in the pocket that week.

Well al, there's overhead you know. Jesus had bills to pay, I'm sure. Did he not accept charity? Free meals & lodging, maybe take in a stage show every so often? :)

I don't know the new testament so that's why I ask you. I started attending church a few years ago, al. They have to pay a mortgage, electric, keep the grounds neat, etc. Plus the nuns enjoy their chocolates, you know. So I give each week in order that I may have a place to meet with like-minded individuals, and to keep the nuns in chocolate.

That asking for prosperity, al, just doesn't wag my tail. You know? I have no trouble asking for guidance & protection, maybe a new set of golf clubs (irons are OK, I need woods).

Would I like to have enough fershnagels ($) to live comfortably? Of course. But isn't the idea of asking for cash akin to displaying greed? Give me? Gimme please? Look at all the suffering, the starvation, the disease. Should I not pray for the suffering to be relieved ahead of my own welfare? What do you think? One can hardly negotiate this site without being bombarded by the off- the-wall ramblings of Mr. Al-d. I have noticed something curious about this persons diction and sentence structure and was wondering if anybody else picked up on this. He just HAS to be writing like this ON PURPOSE to aggravate the reader. It takes work and planning to write the way he does and I am convinced he is jerking everyone around to his personal delight. If he were the idiot he would like us to believe he is, than the consistency would not be there. Also, even an idiot would attempt to improve themselves when called to task.
