Does anyone here remember a post from tb2k that listed all the rx meds available to elderly and needy folks - evidently there is/was a program by the drug companies to distribute free/low cost meds to folks in need.

I think it might have been Old Git, but not sure. I tried looking in the archives for tb2k as well as the prep archive, but you know how it can be trying to find something in those! It's almost enough to make one pull one's hair out! EEEEEEK!

Answers

Yes, there is a drug program in the US for those in need. There are some parameters though. They need to be drugs that the patient requires for the on going treatment of a specific ongoing disease, and the patient must be able to show to the doctor that they have no means to pay. The doctor must then apply to the pharmaceutical company, providing pertinent data, and ask that the drug company pay for the drug for that patient. The doctor needs to do the paper work, based on his assessment. I have more specifics at work if you are interested. Let me know...

Like I said in my post yore, talk to the prescribing doc and ask he make application to the drug company based on the patient's need and inability to pay. The drug companies do have hearts ya know! You just have to find the right one. Best of luck to you and let us know how it goes...
