Pacific Gas & Electric workers were trying Saturday night to restore power to about 7,000 customers in west Bakersfield.

The area lost power around 8:30 a.m. after a PG&E transformer bank went down, a company spokeswoman said.

The outage affected customers in an area north of Ming Avenue between Calloway and Gibson roads.

I'm in the PG & E service area too. We've had 3 power outages, ranging from 45 minutes to one hour each, since April. Until that time we'd not had ANY outages lasting for more than a few seconds each since a freak snow storm brought everything to a halt for 2 days in 1990.

No explanations. Very suspicious.
