Nikon Coolpix 990 Red Eye - Ease of touch-up

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I'm a 1st time digital camera buyer considering the Nikon Coolpix 990. Photos will mainly be of my family. Based on feedback, red eye will occur when we don't take the time to attach an external flash. My question - How easy is it to fix/touch-up these photos using software? Which software would you use? Is this really a viable solution?

Thanks in advance,

Michael

Michael, you shouldn't have any problem with most imaging editing software. I use Photoshop 5.5 and work with layers to correct the red eye. I think there are other programs more amateur oriented which actually make the corrections easier. I have photodeluxe loaded, but I have never opened it, but maybe there is something there which is better. You will not go wrong buying the Nikon and neither will you go wrong with the Kodak 290. The important thing is learning to use the imaging editing software.

Other option is to go to any camera store or even K-Mart and get a red eye fixer pen for a few bucks. It is easy to use too.
