Guardiola available ++ Barcelona have announced that Bobby Robson favourite Josep Guardiola is available at just #3.9 million. The midfielder who captained Spain at Euro 2000 was watched by Robson last season and is demanding assurances from Barcelona over his first-team future at the Nou Camp. But outgoing Barca president Josep Nunez has revealed that the Catalan club would be willing to let Guardiola leave - because he is too old at 29! Nunez announced in an interview on Spanish TV that one of his last acts as Barcelona supremo was to invite three UEFA agents to officially value every player at the club. But while Patrick Kluivert was rated at #15.5 million and both Luis Figo and Rivaldo at a staggering #33 million, Guardiola's worth was judged to be far less. Guardiola is said to be angry at Nunez's revelations, as he is only a year older than both Figo and Rivaldo. And while Robson has already signed one midfielder this summer in Christian Bassedas, he may be tempted to test Barca's resolve to hang onto a man he rated highly when he coached the club.

Please Bobby....

IMO, Guardiola could be an great acquisition at #3.9mm - the cost of one Sylvia Maric!
I feel we are still too reliant on RL & GS staying fit & healthy - with someone like Guardiola coming in we'd be able to rotate 2 from 3 and allow all of them an occasional rest.

It will all come down to how much Bobby has in his transfer kitty, and how soon he mananges to off load the chaff in the squad.

We identified four key signings for the summer. It appears Bassedas is to be our left winger, now everyone on about Mpenza - that would make two strikers. That leaves a defender and another midfielder.

Will Bobby have another 8 million pounds to sign Helder and Guardiola?

If you add these two players to our current squad, and Mpenza does come and does work out, then I would be confident of NUFC getting into the sixth spot in the EPL and catching the coat tails of the top five.

But Bobby had better start finding some young British talent to add to the squad in the comming years or we'll be another Chelsea or Arsenal player nationality wise.

BR won't pay #4mm for Helder. However, I still think we might sign him at around #1mm once Deportivo realise that they won't get #4mm for him and need to begin paying his wages again.
