Buenos dias! Como estas?! Galaxy and Bud, your Spanish puts me to shame. Didn't know a word beyond counting to 10 when I started, now know a few words, with the aid of body language and gesturing I can understand enough to get the gist of what people are saying. Had the team made it past the group stage I might have even gotten to the point of stringing an actual sentence together. ;-) Thank God for Spanish speaking local liaisons/drivers in each city!!! Still it made for some interesting experiences. When the cervezas are flowing differences in spoken language don't matter. *hic* Also made shopping for a video camera at a mall in Indiana interesting...fortunately the head coach turned up and was able to help translate the technical specs.

Harder work than I expected. Was so exhausted when I got home yesterday, I slept 10hrs straight only waking up twice wondering what hotel I was in and in a panic because somehow my cat was in my hotel room and I didn't know who brought him, or why, or how I was going to take him to the next city. Ahhh the joys of tour head %-}

Still, I had a lot of fun and great memories. The team and staff were fantastic(apparently some other teams really made life difficult for their liaisons). 1 bad game, 1 great game, 1 unbelievable game(against China), with a very young squad (avg age 20) and excellent coaching staff they should do really well in the future. A few of the players are being tapped for the women's pro league starting up next year. As for me, it's back to looking for a real job again. bah. I wonder if YBR needs a team liaison? ;-))

Pleased to hear it was a worthwhile experience! If there is a `team liason` vacancy at NUFC - your certainly the gal for it!!!(:o)

Yeah! NUFC Team Liason occifer. Go for it Ciara - then we can have two pleasures - one of welcoming you to UK and t'other to see LR hand over a crate of Malt to Jonno. He-hah!

Hee...well, if I get the chance, I'll have a word with Bobby in a few weeks. Though knowing me, I'll just stand there with my mouth open in awe of the man and not be able to say a word! It took me 2 days to get up the nerve to talk to Mexico's head coach(who shares a similar air of authority as YBR) beyond business issues. ;-)

Anyway, you're right to tell LR to start saving up, I'm looking into some promising possibilities in Leeds and Harrowgate, and hope to talk to my Leeds contact when he's over here in a few weeks. It may not be Newcastle, but it's a lot closer to the Golden City than Boston! And has the added advantage of being well-located for travel to all away games as well as home games!! Now I'm eagerly awaiting the club sending out letters to folks on the ST waiting list to see if they get to my name somewhere near the bottom. :-)
