Arrivederci Signore Pi$$edOne

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Looks like Everton are finally signing the Pi$$ed One; 3m. quid, what did we pay for him (was it 5m.?)?

At least he'll now be off our huge payroll, what we really need now is some other suckers to buy Maric!!!

Before we start counting our chickens/dollars, perhaps we should wait until he passes his medical today ... ? I don't even want to think about the repercussions if something untoward shows up in those Italian legs.

signed A VERY cautious optimist !!

I am going to cause some bother here but I remember watching him on his first home game, standing in the blackie boy afterwards and talking about this new classy defender we had found. You have to admitt guys he could have been one hell of a player.

I have always thought these stories of his obsession with champagne were well wide of the mark (the famous landlord saga) but it might be true!

I do also feel he was fucked over by KD and RH but has at least stood up for himself and made an effort to prove he can play. Not many players would have done this, especially after the sheeps heart incident.

See you AP and next time break a Makams leg!

If it was just a case of the managers being rotten to him then he might have had a case, but being judged by his teammates as a waste of space speaks volumes. Watching the minging git feigning injury at Kingston Park because he didn't like playing in the Reserves was enough for me: he even had the affront to describe the incident as him trying to show Gullit what he was made of...looked like wet string from where I was standing all of 15 yards away. Good riddance.

IMHO this is a masterstroke by BR. He constantly talked up Pistone after games and even allowed him to play in that testimonial at OT to put him in the shop window as it were. As a result we have now got rid of a player who BR doesn't want in the team and recoupped some of his value. Now for Maric :-)

I hope he doesn't pick Maric for a few games to put him in the shop window. I wouldn't be surprised to see him feature in the Feyennord friendly.

Pistone seals Everton deal

From the Press Association Friday June 30, 2000

Alessandro Pistone has lifted some of the gloom surrounding Everton by completing his #3million move from Newcastle.

The Italian defender came through his medical today to tie up the transfer.

Pistone has signed a five-year deal and becomes manager Walter Smith's first signing of the summer.

His arrival is some positive news for Everton fans, who are still coming to terms with Nick Barmby's revelation that he wants to join arch-rivals Liverpool.

Sounds like his old teammate Watto could be joining him. And possibly my eternal recommendation, Alexandersson, aswell, tho Villa and Cov are interested in him too. I still reckon he's decent value at around #3mill.
