This guy is almost Islamic. I'll bet he doesn't let his wife go to the gynecologist by herself.

Put away your pants ladies, God wants you to wear long flowing robes without underwear

Oh man, this is funny!

"One time a UPC preacher came to me and said that he wished that the Bible did not prohibit a woman from wearing makeup and jewelry because, "A lot of women in our church look terrible." I told this to a United Pentecostal preacher (a guy who had some common sense, because he agreed with me), that the Bible says the woman is not to adorn herself in these things. But the Bible also says the woman ought not to have power over her own body, but that it belongs to her husband. The Bible doesn't say that a man could not adorn his wife. And when God adorned His wife, He adorned her with jewels, pretty clothes and perfume. So if a man wants to adorn his wife, he is at liberty to do so. This Pentecostal preacher got excited. He went out and got his wife a makeup kit, some perfume and earrings. People in his church thought he had flipped his lid, but he just opened up his Bible and preached it like I told him to. I don't know if they accepted it or not, but they didn't throw him out of the pastorate (of course, his wife only wore these things at home). God wants His bride to be adorned. You find that in the book of Revelation, that Christ's bride is adorned for Him. God adorned His bride, Israel. And a man should adorn his wife. A man should want his wife to be beautiful and a woman should want to be beautiful for her husband."

The sound track gagged my maggot.

"Baby Got Back" might have been a better choice, but rap music doesn't translate well to synthesizers.

I realize on this board, it is not politically correct to defend Christian principles, but I read that article and feel it makes perfect sense, for someone who wants to be a Christian.

I ask you men.....wouldn't you want a wife who is dressed nicely, but modestly.....so she is not flaunting what she has to other men?

I expect to be verbally pelted, by those on this board, but I am in total agreement with that article, and have put the website on my favorites, as it has many other articles that look worthwhile. Thanks to the contributor!

That WAS an interesting article, Ruth.

It seems to me to be another case of selecting scripture that suits one's own desires, but I'm not Christian, so I don't try to make too much sense out of which folks believe which scriptures.

The problem is when folks try to enforce THEIR beliefs on the rest of society. There was an instance in Fort Worth last year in which a judge refused to allow female lawyers into his courtroom unless they were dressed in a skirt or dress.

I agree with Nemesis on the music. I read much faster due to the music. I miss my old monitor with the "mute" button.

We live in very different worlds, Jo Ann. At work, when we're doing installation and repair work on the computers and mainframes, dresses would not be practical for my female colleagues, given the amount of bending and stooping and crawling under the tables to reach plugs that they must do. Now, I could be a "gentleman" and do that for them, but that wouldn't fall under "equal pay for equal work."

Not that I've given this issue much thought, but now that you've brought it up: I think that pants are more modest attire for women since they cover more skin, and it isn't seeing a woman's figure that turns me on, but the amount of skin that she happens to be showing, especially if she is showing more than I'm used to seeing. (But not in the workplace, please! Sometimes it's hard enough to concentrate on debugging a dumb project.)

Also, who said that they wore "nothing" under their robes? I don't think that was true all of the time. Even today, it's pretty hard to find women who don't wear panties (I know there are some). I showed the article to several women in my office who broke out in peals of laughter and then made some comments that made *me* blush, so I won't repeat them.

GOD look,s at the heart, not the performance!! like JESUS said to the pharisees[he called them satan.s kids] he said>you LOOK good on the outside-but inside ,you stink.

Ah yes, I remember working for a priggish firm whose dress code required suits or dresses, winter and summer. And I remember freezing my ass off in winter. Hogwash!

kb8um.......you are very correct, in that certain working situations dictate the use of pants for women. I was not thinking of that aspect, merely of those females who work in the office, go to church, or other occasions where slacks or jeans are not needed.

I, myself, wear culottes or slacks to work in yard, and where I work (nursing home) pants are the uniform of choice, especially for the aides.

You are right- this is a different world, where many women now do what was formerly mens' work, and a skirt would be immodest.

However, I do think that the principles of the article are correct, in most situations, when there is no need for pants....such as to go to work in the office, to go to church, etc. It is just one of those ideals that can't always be met, and certainly should not be enforced by anybody.....should be left to the individual's choice. I would never endorse any legislation as to how anyone should dress! Just thot the article made a lot of sense, for a GUIDLELINE as to how women should dress.

God's got a dress code?

So when I arrive at the pearly gates, St.Peter will say "Sorry mate, I can't let you in wearing sneakers."

And I will say "These sneakers cost me $150! Let me in! Surely my creditors' money is as good as anyone else's."

And he will say "Sorry, I can't let you in. The place is full."

And I will say "But you just let those modestly-dressed women into your place, let me in too."

And he will say "F**k thee off, or I shall have my Mauri bouncer mates kick thy head in."

And I shall walk away, and mutter to myself "Heaven is overrated anyhow. Full of self-righteous wannabees, plus the music's too loud."
