Yesterday I had the good fortune to meet Future Shock in person up in San Francisco. As I expected, he's a Great guy and most interesting, too! We could easily have chatted all night if I didn't have to be at work early the next morning. I really felt like I was re-connecting with an old friend after a long absence.

Based on this, I predict that those who journey to Las Vegas in October will have many similar experiences and make many new friends. I can hardly wait to meet you all! Those of you still undecided or who think you can't make it, please reconsider. It will be a truly memorable event!

While this sounds interesting, "Las Vegas in October" leaves a lot of room for error, since October is a big month and Las Vegas is a big city. Something like "Friday, October 13th at 10:00 AM in the McDonalds on the corner of Dustbowl and Sagebrush" might be more useful. Just a suggestion.

Flint, I suspect that you will not see any details of the LV get- together posted for the regular forum readers. As I stated weeks ago this little group of self-proclaimed elitists have gone underground for fear of bad people seeking them out in LV. I can most likely be in the general area during that general time frame. Sooner or later, though, I need to do more specific scheduling. I could probably arrange to get together with people given a time and place specific enough to do so. If it shows up on this forum and I see it, fine. If it's really a secret for some silly reason, I have no desire to join any secret society. If someone emails me details, I'll post them here where they belong.

I certainly would like to meet you, and everyone else that shows up and is of like mind. My understanding is that the weekend of Friday The 13th seems most popular, and that CapFun might arrive on Thursday evening (to user in the festivities). That's about all I have for sure at this point. So, I am planning on arriving either Thursday evening or sometime Friday. I will most likely be driving from the SF Bay area and it takes about 9 hours so would probably leave around Noon and arrive around 9:00 PM, hopefully Thursday. The rest we can sort out. I really hope that the secret cabal stuff didn't actually happen, although if some people want to gather in secret I guess it's their right. I'd think that with guys like us around, they'd feel reasonably safe! :-)

I haven't made any actual arrangements yet, but am toying with the idea of trying to get a room or a couple of adjoining ones somewhere on the Strip that we could use as a 'hospitality suite' and place to relax and chat. I'll let you know if such can be obtained for a reasonable rate.

Since all I hope to need is cheap airfare, I haven't been making any plans yet at this point. I'm hoping to stay with my niece, but I have to get her address to ensure that's okay. I'll ask the brother I like today if he has her address so I can stop procrastinating on asking her dad. I missed a call from the "nice" brother yesterday.

I won't be posting where she lives, and I won't be posting any details that would be imprudent to normally publish for a woman traveling alone.

That makes good sense. I think the only safety/security precautions that are needed are those that make good sense in our normal lives anyway. We can communicate through the Forum and Bok's, and when we get there some of us can post our L.V. phone numbers so we can connect and update each other on who's doing what, when, where, and with who!
