Conectiv, plagued by criticism for its role
in a 160,000 customer-wide power outage last
July Fourth weekend, a pipeline oil leak into
the Delaware's Indian River, and a flawed
billing system, said at a March shareholder
meeting that it would entertain merger offers
because its growth rates had lagged competitors.

Conectiv pays $450,000 for violations

WILMINGTON, Del., June 14 (Reuters) -
Energy supplier Conectiv has agreed to
pay $450,000 to settle two pollution
violations brought by the Delaware
Department of Natural Resources and
Environmental Control (DNREC).

Conectiv also agreed to pay DNREC
a $100,000 fine for violating Air
Pollution Control permit requirements
by operating two boiler units at
Indian River before DNREC was
notified.
