No Figo, but will Marcelo do?

"Newcastle United manager Bobby Robson is understood to have agreed a deal to bring talented Portuguese midfielder Marcelo Pereira Fernandes to St James Park.

The 25-year-old plays for CS Maritimo and is due to arrive on Tyneside next week to discuss personal terms in the hopes of completing a #2million move to the Magpies.

Robson has been busy in the transfer market during the summer having already captured Argentinian midfielder Christian Bassedas for #4million while his fellow countryman Daniel Cordone has only to pass a medical to rubber stamp a #500,000 move to the Toon outfit..."

Don't think many people have heard of him either. But I guess YBR should know...Always wonder how some countries produce some pretty decent footballers for certain positions...like Portugal or France if you are looking for creative attacking midfielders (Zidane, Ginola, Cantona, Figo, Rui Costa...) or Brazil for strikers (Ronaldo, edmundo, Romario during his prime) or Italian or English defenders, Danish or Aussie or American goalkeepers...etc, etc...
