SEE WHAT I MEAN.

AND THIS IS AFTER WAITING DAYS FOR ANSWERS THAT NEVER CAME.

You get no answer to your question, which means either the peoples here do not have the equipment that you have, or they have not dealt with the problem that you are having. To answer your question about the Pioneer DVL919 in regards to whether or not it will play SVCD. I do not have that particular model in my DVD player inventories. However, i have two Pioneers Model 525 and 302. I believe the model u have is similar to my 302 but more expensive because it is top of the line Pioneer DVD player. The spec on your Pioneer is very similiar to my 302. I create my SVCD with I-author software and capture it with ATI AIW128 32Mb card. Both of my pioneer DVD players will play this SVCD correctly and better then VCD. The quality is similar to XVCD (VCD @ 2600Kb/s video bitrate). Therefore, i have opted to stay with XVCD instead hence it is less time consuming with encoding. I captured mpeg1 with ATI at 25XXKb/s(you can't not control the exact bitrate with ATI) and burn it with Nero as VCD directly no encoding at all. My experience with BBMPeg is not great with Pioneer models. The audio is always corrupted. If you really want to work with SVCD, I can tell you what i did to create my SVCD, and you can try it out on your Pioneer. Chances are your model will also play the SVCD. Hope this help you out some.

Hey Caholloway, you need to calm down just a bit. I have had a ton of questions on here that were never answered. If you have a problem with some ones answer to you, maybe you should email that person and ask for them to be a bit more specific. i find this to be one of the best forumns, as i have found a TON of help and info from good people on here, i otherwise would not have gotten. And for some reason i do believe i have helped you once before either via email or on this message board

Okay, okay, chill out. That 919's special attribute is that it also plays laserdiscs. NO, it doesn't play SVCDs. I tried SVCDs on it: one recorded with Nero, etc. (which played okay on a JVC SVCD/VCD/CD mini- component system), and one pressed (searched for and taken in TST, Kowloon, Hong Kong, Chinese opera something; the only SVCD I could find, rare, I was told; funny when you think it's they (Chinese) who had one of the biggest hands in bringing about SVCD in various attempts to stave off DVD and all royalty-paying it will incur): no dice. So, no.

In any case you will never find a site that can answer all questions UNLESS those with the experience are part of that site. I know nothing about 90% of this sites discussions, but I do know something about NLE based operations in analogue and DV - horses for coarses!

I don't know why people bother to reply to Mr. Caholloway with such courtesy. If he chooses to use such foul language, and call everybody else assholes, he should be left unanswered.

And to you, Mr. Caholloway, My advice is: If you don't like what you see here, don't come back again. Go look for answers elsewhere.

Mr Caholloway, Sorry your SVCD problem is getting to you. I have been reading this forum for about a year and found it very helpful. Over this time frame, I have been ready to pull my hair out over solving problems several times...but I don't redirect my frustration. Martinez, Ross, Doug, Inguyen and others are very helpful and don't deserve it. Don't blame the learning curve on others. Try to have a good one. Darryl.
