650, If you want the whole ticket make me an offer but it had better be a good one as I plan to return from my exile after I have destroyed the south.

-- Anonymous, June 28, 2000

SIX HUNDRED AND FIFTY FUCKIN' SQUID!!!!!

You Dick Turpin bastard!!!

-- Anonymous, June 28, 2000

Price is fine but it is one of those "but if we get to Wembley I want it back" type of deals is it?

-- Anonymous, June 28, 2000

No but I was considering the London based away games as I live here, But Ive got a few mates whos tickets I can probably use.

Whos the interlectual Manc fan, and where was he born?

-- Anonymous, June 28, 2000

Sounds good to me, I am sure we can work something out for the league away games, I only manage about 6 a year max.

Mail me for how you want paid.

Cheers Tony

-- Anonymous, June 28, 2000

Steve - a fresh face - welcome!!!! Take no notice of LR - he`s not all there you know, we humour him!!!(:o)

-- Anonymous, June 28, 2000

Long story about the intellectual manc (hehehe).....he's not a bad bloke actually but his main hobby is winding us up so try not let him get to you too badly!!

-- Anonymous, June 28, 2000

He does not bother me, try living with MUFC fans (London) and that will bother you. They are so full of crap you become immune eventually. Some dont even know where their bloody ground is.

See YA

-- Anonymous, June 28, 2000

Oi Dick Turpin.....this "where was I born" thing.....are U really interested or are you just being a complete and utter winker?

BTW..I hope to feck you're selling that ST at face...and just WHY can't you get to HOME games ya lightweight...after all, you've already mentioned all the loyal Cockney Reds who travel week in week out to the Theatre of Dreams :-)

-- Anonymous, June 28, 2000

Steve,

Ignore him.....he's got some dodgy manc variant of turrets(sp?) syndrome....

-- Anonymous, June 28, 2000

LR, I am interested in where you were born. You sound like a fine upstanding member of the comunity and I am only interested in your fasinating lifestyle. If only I was a true fan like you. Still dream on I say.

-- Anonymous, June 28, 2000

Cockney...you were warned....but ya see if you take no notice of blokes like Gav ya end up like blokes like Jonno....You'll see :-)

Now, if you wanna be a number one fan like me :-)......there's a few simple steps.

1. Home games are a must...wherever U live. 2. Away games are better..try your best.... but I'll forgive you for not making it to OT. 3. Pretend to be one of the 10,000...earn massive respect. 4. Don't mention Pakistani folk and Coventry in the same sentence......blows away any respect earned in number 3.

C'ya later

LR

-- Anonymous, June 28, 2000

Sound advice mate, a pity you missed of some important facts

1 support a local team 2 dont beg for attention from other fans coz yours cant stand you either 3 dont be desperate enough to answer ficticious adverts for female company posted on the web and make yourself look like a total sad case. 4 be proud of where you are from and the people you call your own.

Youll never be a Geordie and Ill never be a Man ure, lets agree to differ but I wouldnt want to be a fan if it meant being like you, you have my deepest sympathy and I hope you find something meaningful in your life.

Regards

haha....

not so much of a new joiner then if you know the graziola saga!!

new handle or VERY LONG time lurker?

-- Anonymous, June 28, 2000

Never get the chance to contribute usualy. I found this stuff out by following the link on his user profile, he looks a little ill as well. I am worried about him you know. It cant be pleasent to be like this.

See ya Ill check in later

-- Anonymous, June 28, 2000

Wow - a running start. Kick first - ask questions later.

-- Anonymous, June 29, 2000

Certainly raised the testosterone level on here! I expect Dougal will be breathing a sigh of relief, unless, of course, she`s relishing the prospect of an attack on two fronts! Watch this space! (:o)

-- Anonymous, June 29, 2000

Whos Dougal and whos attacking......Having said this you are starting to make me think of the new season already.

ATTACK . ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK COMEOOOOON THE LADS.

God this is sad the season is still weeks away, I notice a little concern on the site regards the quality of the squad. I think we have to be realistic and give Bobby some time; we can have a great squad, we can have all the local talent in the world but we cant just go and buy success without building spirit and structure.

Please be patient everyone and believe me we wont be let down.

-- Anonymous, June 29, 2000

One of the other prerequisites for being a true fan is that you must go to rival teams matches with people you have met on the interenet in a desperate attempt to gain their respect for some reason ? Anyone fancy gannin to a manure match and befriending some of them ? nahh i thot not ; - )

-- Anonymous, June 29, 2000

Cockney you're right. Spirit and structure will bring us more success than buying Alfonso Fallover for #12 mill.

Sure we need decent players but the way we are going to attract them is by using the current squad + signings this summer to get us into Europe. All this talk of Guardiola and Enrique is Teamtwaddle talk and I personally think we haven't a chance of signing these boys without CL football.

-- Anonymous, June 29, 2000

Hey Sting...what a piss weak attack that was......back to school for you I think. Respect?....If that's what I wanted divvy d'ya think I'd've told as many home truths about NUFC and their fans as I have...knowing that it would rattle new found NET friends? lol...what a twot!!

Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeze...if ya can't hook up with yer football "foes" at a game without being lablled then surely this whole NET CHAT thing is bollox.

And as fer that exile fella tellin' me to support my local team when he has to sell his ST cos he can't be bothered to SUPPORT HIS LOCAL TEAM!!!!!........the stench of Geordie hypocricy is back and we haven't even tonked you lot in the opening game yet :-)

Hell.....hope I haven't offended any of my mates :-)

OOOOH handbags are out lads.

Get out of bed on the wrong side eh LR! Nevermind someone might like you at some stage in your life. I hope you are well and its good you expell this anger it will just make you a jealous and bitter man.

As for supporting my team, I can not afford to travel but I have still given my club the cash for the ticket (in advance) in the hope they can use it to strengthen their position. I have not just left them with nothing like some would. I have also committed myself to them with a 99 year ticket which I will take up on my return from exile. Do you mind me asking what you have done for your club lately?

-- Anonymous, June 29, 2000

Hahahah. LR a fine upstanding member of the community. LoL.

I suppose Maria told you that??? Hey Lanky - you playing footie on Saturday???

-- Anonymous, June 29, 2000

Oi Exile....I seem to have made you feel the need to explain yourself....hmmmmmmmmmmm..I wonder why.

What have I done for my club lately?.......nothing new mate.....just the same old shit I've been doing since '79...paying me money...turning up...eating crisps...you know, all the usual. Thing is, if I'd shelved out 6 ton for a book of briefs I'd deffo have found my way to the Mecca of football stadia to shout on the shirts...not just buy a zebra skin and sit in the boozer getting wound up by plastic Reds.

I suppose that "giving" your club the money in advance makes you feel like you're playing your part.......play it in '91 did ya:-)

Screach:..na mate....Bike rally in the NW this wekend...got to attend..our club is out in force...anyway you lot would just kick me all over the shop :-)

-- Anonymous, June 29, 2000

Its so refreshing to see a Manc recognise his Plastic fans, as for 79 I was 7 but had already been going to St James with my Pa for a year and a half and ever since.

I have been to Old Trafford over six times for various games and still cant get over the lack of atmos. You might get some so called fans there but lets be honest passion is not your strong point (thats what the phantom bird says as well).

How is Scotland anyway, I bet the Jocks (your own people) hate you as well.

But in your own words "always look on the bright side of life" you have to if you are a man without honor or loyalty. Not everyone can hate you surely.

Are you a Biker, Im getting a new one next week.

-- Anonymous, June 29, 2000

Gotta defend LR here.....he is in my opinion a man of honour....

-- Anonymous, June 29, 2000

Oi Exile... you're a fully grown lurker pal...you've been sussed.

My old man took me to OT once and once only...I didn't need him after that....and d'ya know what?....I've been to OT MORE than 6 times when there's been fuck all atmosphere....so? No word of a lie....IMHO your atmosphere last season against us was fuck all to shout home about AND you tonked us....you must remember. Surely you were there. Screach was, Softy was , Steph was, Clarky was, The Pilgrim was, Alan was.

Bring the Jocks into this if ya want.....bring atmosphere into this also (having been to OT only 6 times I fail to see how you can become an expert on our fans) but remember this ....when we were shite..and boy were we shite....we still turned out. Come rain or shine if the Reds should play in Rome or Mandalay.......we'll be there.

WATPOAE

-- Anonymous, June 29, 2000

lanky if i had a pound to count the number of times you contradict yourself id be a rich man . So if you insinuate we know nowt about your atmosphere having only been to Ot a few times then divvent crticise ours , stick to the bikes mate they're far noisier ; - )

-- Anonymous, June 29, 2000

I was there last year, without my Pa as well - I bet thats a shocker. The atmos was not great but was still a dam lot better than OT. Abou the number of times Ive been there, Imagine you buy a car and its a right pile, do you buy another one again? even though the manufacturer has made over a million of them? and more importantly would you buy six and still go back? maybe if you were a little dim you would. I rest my case.

What do you mean were crap, you still are mate and everyone with any knowledge of Manchester at all knows who the biggest (locally) supported team is and guess what its not United!

I would suggest a visit to a doctor for some nice pills to mellow you out a little. I am now realy concerned about your mental state and anger, if I continue to point real life out to you you may damage yourself or worse! I could not have this on my mind so I will make the greatest effort to be nice to you and let you live on in your little world.

All the best mate!

LR Writes:

>>>>>anyway you lot would just kick me all over the shop :-)<<<<<<

No point in going now then, I was looking forward to chopping the tw@t off at the knees......sheesh....spoilt my whole bliddy weekend now........joke Lanky....joke!

-- Anonymous, June 29, 2000

>>>>>Gotta defend LR here.....he is in my opinion a man of honour....

Crap. He has not yet withdrawn the libel of hypocrisy which he levelled against me with no evidence to support his insult. A man of honour would justify or withdraw the remark.

-- Anonymous, June 29, 2000

Sting.....I think you'll find that I only pointed out that the LAST time I was there it was like sitting with 35,000 mice.....for most of the match anyway.

Ok...Exile says we're crap:-) (do I REALLY need to rise to that)....and ask me if I give a flying fux about who the "most locally supported team" are?? Urban myth...generated by planks like you.

I did justify it Jonno......in my book what U said about NON GEORDIE Mags was tosh considering what you've said about Manchester United's out-of-towners.

Get back in yey box.

-- Anonymous, June 29, 2000

What ever you say LR, I have got to be nice to you.

Just one small parting point though, this urban myth you refer to; where would any football club be without it even the great Man ure would have faded into nothing if it was not for the initial LOCAL suport? You just dont get it do you; you probably never will so dont be too disappointed.

see ya

-- Anonymous, June 29, 2000

I see the training for the new season has started !!!!!!:~))

-- Anonymous, June 29, 2000

>>>>>I did justify it Jonno......in my book what U said about NON GEORDIE Mags was tosh considering what you've said about Manchester United's out-of-towners.

Non-Geordie mags? All of the people mentioned (in the piece in question) bar ONE either live in the North East now and/or were born and bred there. Wrong on that count.

What I said about Heath's out-of-towners? Well what did I say LR? I have never said anything against out of town fans. Speaking here on the BBS which is a forum much loved by many of United's own exiles (myself included when I started) I would not criticise someone for not living near the club they support. Wrong on the second count.

Both planks of your argument have been demolished LR. Now apologise or get lost.

-- Anonymous, June 29, 2000

Urban Myth N0 1 exile........NUFC fans...say no more.

Not wrong Jonno....You spoke of Douggie and Kia Ora...maybe Softus and Steph too. Only ONE Geordie there I think. Tell me I'm wrong.

No Jonno...you've demolished nowt. Time after time I end up arguing with you wrt BIRTH RIGHT and all that bollox. Many times you and the likes have felt the need to question my support or why I follow the Reds....why only "exiled twit" did it yesterday?. Have I seen ANYONE question Softie's POB, Kia-Ora's POB or Steph's POB?...Naaaaaaaaaaa...I haven't. So I don't think I'll be getting lost ....pal :-)

-- Anonymous, June 29, 2000

Exile......go show me the proof that City have more local support than Utd. You go get it and I'll scoff humble pie while having a toss in the Strawberry.

-- Anonymous, June 29, 2000

LR

It was ME you called a hypocrite so it is only MY postings you can take into account in establishing your case. So don't start carping on about what OTHERS have written when it is ME you are trying to prove a hypocrite.

I pointed out that I had demolished BOTH sides of your hypocrite argument. You have come back with an INCORRECT defence of only one side of that argument. No claim was ever made of them being Geordies (and semantically such a term is not definable) but of the 4 people you mention, THREE live in or were brought up in the NE. The only exception has holidayed there, loves the place and is seriously considering emigrating.

But what about the 2nd side of your "argument". The fact that I am supposed to rubbish out of towners? WHEN HAVE I EVER DONE SUCH A THING YOU LIAR? Would I rubbish oot's when Softie is a best mate and was living 400 miles from Newcastle? Of course not. I have never said the things you think.

LR I have beaten you in argument on here a number of times. It's extremely easy. You make the classic mistake of assuming you know what I'm thinking, and then attacking THAT, and not what I actually said. You're blithering on about BIRTHRIGHT. I have NEVER used the word on here.

LR you talk total rubbish. It is your right and priveledge to do so. It is NOT your right and priveledge to call me a hypocrite. I do aspire to be a person of integrity and your libels are way wide of the mark as I have demonstrated.

NOW LR.

PUT UP OR SHUT UP. PROVE YOUR CASE OR APOLOGISE FOR YOUR PUBLIC INSULT.

-- Anonymous, June 29, 2000

Get off yer high hores Jonno. Ya can't take the moral high ground with me. You....more than anyone else will post stuff deliberately to get my goat and when I mither you about it you become all moral.

Birthright??..yeah you have..YOU know it and I know it.

I dunno what yer making so much of this for. Touched a sore point have I? Exposed you for the shit stirrer you are?....and you are one. I know mate.....I can see one a mile off...it's like looking in the mirror :-)

You want me to say sorry on here cos I called you a hypocrit?...do one mate......I'll do no such thing. I'll prove you're one over the coming season...mark my words!

-- Anonymous, June 29, 2000

>>>>I'll prove you're one over the coming season

So you admit you've not managed it so far then? ((((-;

NEXT!!!!

-- Anonymous, June 29, 2000

Oh for God's sake fellas. Give it a rest, otherwise Lord Chief Justices (select any 2 or more of the previous 3 words at random) Blackburne, Waller, Woolfe and Clarke (but not Dougal) will be having yet another judgement to decide and I'd hate either of you to lose yer hooses over a BBS spat. I think I speak for the rest of us on here when I say we don't give a toss about who called who names.

LR has already declined the offer of a fight with ITK on Saturday, and could easily have settled his differences with Jonno at the same time. Gav won't turn up either (unless there's a proper fight, eh??) 'cos he's deeing' his heed in aboot a new job.

Time to bury the hatchet?........and I'm not talking aboot in somebody's heed!

-- Anonymous, June 29, 2000

Hey everyone,

I am new to this stuff and it seems Ive caused all this hasstle between these gents. I apologise, its not what I intended but the first insult was sent by LR and that set the tone for the rest of the "discussion".

I have to say I dont give a hoot either way but it shows the depth of knowledge that LR has about the so called team he supports, if he knew anything about Manchester he would know the true local support is very much towards city mainly because Mancs object to glory hunters and businesses from other areas claiming MUFC are their club.

However I do not want to get into an arguement with someone who does not want to listen. If I went and proved it (taking my time and effort) LR would only dispute it on technicalities i.e. what is local? and I could go on forever. I like a good bit of banter but do occasionally have better things to do. So LR just get on with your blinkered life and as you said you are a shit thrower. Have the decency to accept that some shit might come back and stick now and then.

See Ya

-- Anonymous, June 29, 2000

Hey Cock. Nowt you've done. These two have been at it for donkey's. Put it down to the hot weather and the fact that the Ugly Sisters were sh*te in Euro 2000. OK, OK, I'll take that back. The weather hasn't been that hot. You gonna be playing footy at Regent's Park on Saturday? LR's sniffing around a load of bikes (so he says) so has declined the kind invitation.

-- Anonymous, June 29, 2000

I'm amazed Exile...totally amazed. You slate me for my lack of knowledge wrt to the club I support yet you who supports NUFC (while selling his feckin' soul for the Queen's Shilling)and neither MUFC or MCFC thinks he knows more about the fan base of Manchester...the City or the Greater? I bet you also truelly belive ALL of our fans come from London...NONE of know where Old Trafford is and that we ALL demand Ryan Giggs and Dwight Yorke play for England. You then use some bollox about the real people of Manchester disliking glory hunters (whatever they may be)......

ok...prove it.

In the words of your very own elder statesman Jonno....put up or shut up :-)

-- Anonymous, June 30, 2000

Ill see you on Saturday, trying my best to make it. I would have loved to have seen LR and listen to his patter for a while, you have to give the bloke some credit, he is entertaining.

See ya tomorrow.

-- Anonymous, June 30, 2000

OK how about this, the company I work for has a branch in Salford, within walking distance of Old Trafford. I have spent a lot of time there. If I organise a poll of the employees there (Local) will you accept the results. I have to warn you that I already know the result! As I said I have spent a lot of time there and this is what I base my opinions on as much as anything.

See ya

-- Anonymous, June 30, 2000

I'll accept that..as long as the folk you ask are Mancs.

-- Anonymous, June 30, 2000

Why oh why have I let myself get drawn into this debate. I don't even come from Manchester. I don't CARE who has more fans living up Rossaman St. All I know is that for the last 25 years (give or take ywo seasons) United's out-of-towners(obviously) have been THE most loyal fans in the land. Don't go harping on about passion and atmoshphere...I'm talking LOYALTY....paying yer money...turning up...home AND away.

-- Anonymous, June 30, 2000

Oi, LR

Don't resist being drawn into the debate. Your hand-bag wrestling with Jonno is one of the most entertaining features of this BB.

So: Jonno please continue whingeing about being a man of honour (means something quite different here in Italy......); and LR do by all means continue your streams of consciousness & self-righteous indignation (although without your more extreme facist views......).

PS LR - after last night's display of goalkeeping maybe Taggart should have gone for Toldo instead of Baldy Barthez?

-- Anonymous, June 30, 2000

OK, time to throw my four penn'orth in!

Hi Steve, nice to see a new and prolific poster.

I'm an Ashington lad but I've lived in the Manchester area since 1976 - still Toon daft.

I can tell you, joking apart, there are plenty of ManU fans that live in the Manchester area. There are also plenty of City fans!

MU have always had a strong local support, certainly no worse than City. Salford has always been a big City base - I could speculate why but it's pretty irrelevant. South Manchester is a big MU base. Of course I'm only generalising.

The difference between the two clubs is that MU, for largely historical reasons, has attracted a much wider fan base. My best mate at school in Ashinton was a MU fan (armchair) - never could understand it! They've always had a strong Irish and Scottish fan base, and I believe Welsh too. This is presumably 'cos most of the best Irish, Scottish and Welsh internationals have played for MU.

For the last few years they have certainly has their fair share of "Glory Hunter" fans scattered thoughout Britain and the rest of the world (we've got a few ourselves you know - we've also got some die hard Toon supporters like Ciara, who chose us, not by birthright, but 'cos she fell in love with us and is hooked - comments Ciara).

There's no doubt that MU have a huge London fan base. Somewhere along the line it seems to have been decided that they're the "In" club to support. It also seems that most TV celebs have nailed their colours to the OT mast. They've also invested in attracting overseas fans, something the Toon have also dabbled at.

I've met LR and had my fair share of arguments (well reciprocal piss taking)with him on the BBS and I'm in no doubt he's as passionate about his team as we are about ours.

It's not his fault that MU have attracted the fans that we, to put it mildly, despise, and to be honest he shouldn't have to justify their existance to us.

This must be the umpteenth thread that has gone along the lines of Toon fans are better than Manu fans because.... (or vice-versa LR). I've started a few myself!

How about we declare a truce over this particular issue and accept that we're all fanatical supporters of our teams. I KNOW that the Toon is the best, but then I might be accused of slight bias! :o))

These debates have a habit of turning into very nasty mud-slinging matches.

Roll on the new season!

(Steps down from the pulpit)

-- Anonymous, June 30, 2000

Hay Sand Dancer..."streams of consciousness & self-righteous indignation"....wait a mo while I go fetch a dictionary :-)...Nice one:-)..however...seriosly, this "facist" bit......I may be slighty right wing but I detest racism when it boils down to hatred of someone due to thier colour. Thank feck ya don't get many Black Irishmen...I'd be well labelled Ghengis Khan then ;-)

Goalkeepers?...who needs 'em....especially when you have a rocket launching centre back like we have :-)

Pilgrim...we could end this discussion NOW but you know it will only surface again later...more that likely the night after we tonk you at OT.....hope I can find my way there:-)...but yer right of course.

-- Anonymous, June 30, 2000

I have offered peace many times but this guy comes back for more, he seems to have a major chip on his shoulder for which I am realy sorry.

I take your point but would say I havent said (intentionly or literally to my knowledge) that one set of fans were better than the others. He has taken the high ground and assumed that thats what I said. In my opinion there are real fans for every club and long may it be like this imagine the game without this tension it would be meaningless.

Anything I said was aimed at him and if you read back through the stuff you will find that is generally the case, as I said; if he likes to give it out he should take it on the chin when he gets it back and not be so aggressive.

Respect to all the fans of all the clubs and remember we make the game not these tossers in the corporate boxes and tv studios.

See Ya

-- Anonymous, June 30, 2000

Well said guys.

CE - I know you didn't say that. Me, LR and about 20 other posters have said that over the last couple of years. It just keeps coning up again!

LR, I bet you're praying for our relegation, 'cos we're the team that like to humiliate you!

I'll reserve judgement on the match 'til I see who the ref is. We can only beat 11 of you. If Fergies bought a few officials as well (like last year) then I'm afraid we've no chance!

Thats not what we are arguing about mate. 1. the ticket costs #600 to but plus a #3000 deposit (four years ago) so I dont think #650 for a year is bad considering the percs you get (but I might be wrong). 2. Have the decency to admit you started it by this slanderous "Turpin" statement and dont try to insinuate I started it.

It would not stand up in court mate, just like you wouldnt after a good left hook from me!

But mate its so sad that we have to resort to this threatening behaviour, you obviously feel insecure, I personaly grew out of the fighting stage a couple of years ago after a bad experiance which I dont want to repeat.

hi steve, entertaining stuff, eh? having been exiled in manchester for 12 years, until 3 and a half years ago, but a season ticket holder since 89, i would just like to contribute with this: OT isn't even in the City of Manchester, shouldn't we really refer to them as Trafford United? As for the world wide support, it is obvious that this has originally stemmed from a sympathetic puplic after the Munich disaster (to many it was only a disaster because they didn't ALL die) :^) JOKE, HONEST! As for the 'local' argument, it is true there are a hell of a number of MU supporters in the area, as there are MC supporters, the main difference being that most MC supporters are people who can laugh at themselves as well as others and are the type of supporter most decent people want to see at football matches, whereas most MU supporters think it their devine right to be the best (which they are at the moment unfortunately), can't take critisism without getting on their highhorse and are despised by other supporters, not because they are jealous (which MU fans think is the case), but because of the petulant beckham, the god awful and very dull neville brothers, japp stam ugly man, and 'stopwatch, get my stopwatch' red nose himself sir alex, to name but a few. Not that i wouldn't turn down them all playing for the toon. Thats my 2 penneth worth and i'm sticking to it.

Take Care Fellow Supporters (whether you support NUFC, MUFC, MCFC or lil' old Stockport County) Best Wishes for the coming season lads (and lasses, i suppose)

Enjoyed the banter on return LR,a lot of it old hat(seen some stormy weather)but I will give you this, along with Dancin Dave you are a master of the one liners, suppose only the redoubtable Gav and Swift on our side could match you, thing is Im into more acquired reading, lengthy pieces from the likes of Jonno, Softie, Clarky, Galaxy or whoever, lends itself to making mistakes, like to see one from you sometime, variety is the spice of life, Also interested in youse style of writing/speaking, is it pooter-speak cos it don`t sound/look pusser to me, ping - ping
