SVCD

I edited my registry- it was stupidly easy to do-i backed it up first.

I then used my ATI AIW 32 mg card (tv player) set to the new MP2 bitrates etc for the capture - during capture i was told that at this quality i had 8.32mins or so of space on my harddrive???? i have a 16Gig H/drive- very strange as within the setup it had previously told me 52mins?

anyways i captured some ntsc mpeg 2 and saved as mp or mp2 (only option0 to my h/drive in the plan to use the TMPGENC and BBMPEG123 Programs to de-mux and this is done so my (nero 5.0.0.9 fully working demo) can then burn it as a SVCD compatible source.

anyways i called up the supposedly mp2 file and to my surprise it was now a REAL PLAYER file????

I tried PAL and NTSC and both times it did this and i double checked te registry and it was correct.

i will revert back to doing normal VCD as this is better as you can do all the things and even dub a new soundtrack in real time to your clips-all this with just a little worse picture quality- so why bother with SVCD and all the above quirks just to get a little better quality picture - you can't dubb and will your standalone DVD player even play the SVCD CDR after you have gone to all the above trouble to create it- changing your registry/less time to compile files(time restricted etc) and all the other hassle.

IMO SVCD FORGET IT! I'M GOING BACK TO GOOD OLD NORMAL VCD WHICH PLAY AND ARE MUCH EASIER TO MAKE.

Hey Cal maybe you should try the XVCD. this is virtually the same set up as a normal vcd, except at a higher bit rate. Practically the same thing as a super vcd without all the extra hassle to go through.

I tried this method out with my ATI card, and i was amazed at the quality. It works great for me on both Digital and VHS. Much faster then i was doing before with I-Author and ReMpeg2.
