PC-screen-Epson 1200 calibration

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I feel that sometimes my printing results are somewhat unpredictable. It may be my lack of knowledge of the digital medium or faulty settings. It probably is both. I would like to start by optimizing my system to perfection before I can put the blame solely on my work. I wonder if you could help me get there? I use Win 98, LS 2000 scanner, PS 5.02 and a Nikon 950. I print all of my images on Epson Stylus 1200. I need to find out the default settings in PS for printing to Epson 1200. Thank you. Andrzej

Calibrate your monitor. Use the adobe gamma function in your control panel. That way what you see on your monitor will be close. Make test prints. Take a scan. make a 4x5 image and print it using various settings. By using the layer command you can move the image on an 8.5X 11 sheet. This way you can compare the outputs from the various settings. Write the setting on the margin. Compare it to the monitor and original image. when you have the best image, keep track of the settings

This should work
