zoobie.......which would you trust around your house......a goat....or a sheep? i think god uses models and examples in nature (that were familiar to people of the time) to teach us. goats vs. sheeps. study their natures and you will understand the lesson. goats aren't satanic. but their inherent nature reflects some of the characteristics god is trying to point out to us that aren't all that attractive. god wasn't the one, however, that carried the use of the goat to the extreme---as in cultic symbol. the satanists did that-- obviously to make their own point.

The analogy brings to mind my experience with said animals. Goats are very smart; wily even. Sheep can be incredibly stupid. To sheep, a fence is an enclosure. To a goat, it is a challenge; one that is always overcome. My neighbor has 20 or so goats behind a new fence. I just saw them walk through my back field 5 minutes ago.

I remember packing in the Wind River Range in the old days. They used to graze sheep there in the summer [may still do it]. Beautiful mountains with high passes adorned with cliffs. At the bottom of each cliff, you would find little piles of wool and sheep bones. According to one herder I talked to, you had to watch them. One sheep would head over the cliff and more would follow; like the legend of the lemmings. Successful herders would always keep a few goats. The sheep would follow them and the goats were too smart to walk over cliffs.

So the analogy takes on a new meaning when you consider that goats are smart survivors and sheep are the opposite.

Now, unlike you, I wouldn't want either in my house. For that I prefer hogs :^)
